Tom "Ladies Frames" Crean (HC Georgia Bulldogs)

Last week I met a couple that went to Indianer. I am guessing they were in their late 30s/early 40s. Making small talk, I asked them what they thought of their basketball coach. They immediately went into this rapid fire 10 minute gush-fest about how he is the best coach in college basketball, how this is the year, and so on. I wish I had been taking notes, it was golden. I didn't know people like that existed.

I can't forget seeing the elderly couple of IU fans who wore hats that were largely basketball nets that said they were Tom "Creaniacs" to the IU-Pitt game at a neutral site several years ago, before IU really was ever any good under Crean. I can neither confirm or deny whether Crean cut their net hats to celebrate.

That's surprising. The general climate on their boards seems to be heavily anti-Crean at this point. Of course, a large majority of message board posters usually fall into the "fanatic" vice "fan" category, and tend to have much less patience than your typical "casual" fan.

Crean just doesn't seem to value defense very much, it has certainly been a factor in some of their surprising losses - Wake Forest today, Eastern Washington last year, and so on.
He values fast paced chaos, but fails to realize that it often results in his team just being absolutely out of control. Then he mixes it in with shuffling his lineup the most random time in the most random order and the it's no wonder his guys look like they've never played with each other.

One of the worst mismanagers of talent in D-1 basketball. Failure could not happen to a better tool.
