I have to say that this is the best idea ever. Now I can watch all the games again. However I have tried and tried to figure out how to convert the format so that I can put it on a DVD. I tried DivX and it says I'm missing MPEG-1 codec. Are there any suggestions as to what programs I can use to accomplish this? I know that this is a redundant question and its probably somewhere in these posts but everything I've tried so far from reading like the first 20 pages hasnt worked. I spent like 5 hours last night trying to figure it out. Thanks.

Follow-up question - you do have the whole 3.5 Gigabyte file, right? As in, you can physically see it in your Windows Explorer directory - not the final projected size in your torrent client.

Which FILE did you download?
To restate - if it is timBuck2's collector edition all is done for you. Takes longer to download, but it is worth the wait. He does an excellent job laying those out.
If you have downloaded the lighter weight - but still good DiVX file then use something like DivXToDVD, or its succesor to convert the DiVX to source files for your DVD burning software.

Hey guys, this is awesome what you're doin' here!
I was wondering if you've heard of http://forums.tenyardtorrents.com/ yet? Wondering for a coupla reasons:
1) 'Cuz they cap Buckeyes games there, too.
2) 'Cuz they cap a buncha other college & NFL games if you're looking for any non-Buckeyes stuff.
3) If any of the cappers here would like to help out at all over there, they'd be love to have you!
4) That site's goal is to cap every NFL & college game every week. So far, we've got nearly every NFL game & a buncha college games (though definitely not all). After finding this site, I'm wondering if they should just leave the Buckeyes capping to you, so they could cap other colleges games. What do you think? Will you definitely be getting every game this season? If so, I'll let them know. If you're ever gonna miss a game, you can always post there, & they'll back you up.
Let me know. This is gonna be a trully great season, & I wouldn't want anybody to miss a single game....

You have to register to see most of the forums. They don't have their own tracker as of yet. They post all the games on open sites like Demonoid & the Pirate Bay. It's a handy site, though 'cuz you can download the torrents directly from the forums, & they have everything organized by week, so it's real easy to find the game you're looking for. I'm lovin' it so far! Much better than last year.

If I am understanding you correctly, you only have an avi file of the Iowa game. As sandgk has already touched on, your best bet is to download the file that is already encoded for play on a set top DVD player. TB2's work is excellent and I also highly recommend finding his torrent and going that route.
If you wish to convert the avi file for such, it can be done. There are a number of non-linear editors that include the ability to edit and encode for DVD play. Several can be had for less than $100. I use Adobe's Premier Elements 2 for some projects. It cost around $90 or so, but can be found for less if you shop around on line (amazon had it for about $50 at one point with a rebate included). It is very stable and includes some decent DVD menu features. There are also some stand alone DVD creating applications that will do the trick. I also have Roxio's "DVD Builder" that was included with the Roxio bundle that I got when purchasing my burner. It is fairly basic, but it allows the import of many video file types (including avi) and then encodes for DVD play. There might be some free software that can encode. I don't know of any, but videohelp.com is a good place to start.
