He can either keep running at regular speed, run out of bounds, then turn around and run back to the huddle.
or
He can slow up a little bit and lower his shoulder into a guy coming at him.

A guy who doesn't like contact usually takes option A.

He slows down out of instinct to protect his body. If he knows he can get to the sideline without taking contact he usually does. The times he slows down, gets low, and protects his body isn't for extra yardage or for the joy of contact. In fact, most of the time even though there is contact, he isn't going forward. He is just bracing his body for the blow.

It looks odd for someone so athletic. In contrast, and this isn't a knock, a guy like Cam Newton lowers the boom and falls forward. A guy like Vince did the same thing. Those guys gave out punishment and had no problem falling forward and taking the hits.

Which leaves me scratching my head when they call quick options with Terrelle, and he just routinely tip-toes to the sideline not wanting to turn upfield. It's just not in his comfort zone.

Hell, Terrelle has acknowledged such on hi stwitter page about a month ago. He called it hater day and answered questions from people knocking him. Someone said, "can you stop being a p#ssy, and put your head down when finishing runs like Newton". His simple response was, "No."

Which is fine. I agree with Maxbuck in that he should avoid the hits. I just get frustrated with some of the playcalling asking him to be physical and at the same time some people trying to compare him to Cam Newton/Denard Robinson/Vince Young.

They aren't the same types of QB's. Terrelle is a freak athlete trying to be Troy Smith and become a better pocket QB. Vince and Cam were/are QB's who utilized their best assets at the detriment of becoming NFL QB's.

Couldn't OSU have opted to have the offside applied to the kickoff? Where's BB73 when I need him?

I was at the game - and there's no option to enforce the offsides on an XP on the kickoff when it's the only violation. Rule 10-2-5.XII Link

I dunno.....maybe he has bad instincts then. It seems to me that not slowing down is the best way to not get hit. This is what I'm thinking about when I see him slow down.

I only wish Tressel could motivated his team like Urban Meyer and Mack Brown. Those guys go 14-0 every year, right?
This year, there's a decent chance that Tressel will win as many games as Meyer and Brown combined.

A good thing in a starting QB.

Those who call on Pryor to take on more of a Beanie Wells persona and run like a fullback are so stupid I really have no time for them. Every so often a Tim Tebow comes along who is so solidly built that they can do stuff like this and get away with it. But there are not many Tebows out there, and wanting your QB to be more macho when it comes to contact is idiotic.
Exactly. Who wants to see Pryor truck some linebacker and separate his shoulder? Well, probably some Ohio State "fans".... :roll1:
