tOSU at Notre Dame, Sat. 9/23, 7:30pm EST, NBC

IMO there’s really only one large mismatch in this game.

Their OL vs our front 7 = push
Their front 7 vs our OL = push
Their secondary vs our skill = advantage OSU
Their skill vs our secondary = large advantage OSU

Our possible weaknesses line up nicely. Their DL isn’t anywhere near what they were last year which is good because the same goes for our OL. Their OL is good but then again so is our DL.

We should be able to play more man and take more chances than ND because of how much better our secondary is than the ND skill. I think that’ll eventually wear on this ND team as we will be able to turn a mistake into a big play.

I don’t know man. I understand herrdurr competition but regardless they’re producing very well from a yardage per play and their passing is efficient. This is going to be really interesting.

Freeman has them playing well which isn’t surprising - dude is a good coach. We leveled up this week from a violence and physicality standpoint but we need to again.

D-line still worries me. Too many rushing yards given up to small backs from YSU and WKU. As for the pass rush, the Reed kid was unbelievable in the first 20 minutes despite getting pressured, but the pressure was finally there.

Reed makes a living somehow making wtf quirky plays under pressure. Hartman is good but I don’t think he pulls off some of those plays Reed did earlier in the game.

Neither team has played good competition.

I’d argue that we have played by far the more difficult units between the two (Indiana defense and WKU Offense).

NC State was NDs toughest game and it was a ball game for the majority of the game. NC State got to Hartman 4 times and really did a nice job against them outside of two plays (80 yard run and a 50+ yard broken coverage pass play).

As everyone knows, we have to win the battle of the trenches. We have the advantage in the skill positions so its up to the biggins to bring home the victory.

And there have been very definite signs of softness along both lines so far but we won’t know anything for sure until we play a team like ND that at least has the same kind of athletes.
