Game Thread tOSU at Sparty - Sep 29, 3:30 ET, ABC

Well having got to actually WATCH this one (my 2nd this year) on the Sat TV here in Ukraine I was much happier than I was with the 1st (Cal).

It looked to me that they made some positive strides on both sides of the ball and showed marked improvement. With the exception of that brilliant How-NOT-to Tackle display the really D did a fair to decent job and I give em at least a C+ or B-. The Offense showed up a little more than in the last 4 weeks too and it was nice to see some action out there for a change (compared to the first 4 weeks). Take away those T/Os and this one may not have been close at all. I give O a solid B. I know that may be generous, but I don't get to see that many games here and hey, it was like 0230 when it ended.

It may not have been all razzle-dazzle, but they did a fair job and got er dun.

There are dozens of youtube examples of Michigan State players being dirty during and after plays under Dantonio.

Throw in yesterday's incidents with the eye gouging plus the play that Gholston got hurt in (which was poetic justice at its best) was incredibly dirty. The player came in late, led with his head and went for the kill shot on an already tackled player. I can't believe some sort of punitive action wasn't taken against that garbage (especially considering what happened to Kurt Coleman for a play 1,000,000 times less malicious a few years ago). There were probably many other incidents as well.

It makes me think of Robert Reynolds choking out Sorgi in 2003. Common denominator? Mark Dantonio.

And it's not just run of the mill, play hard until the whistle with some late hits now and then kind of things. Choking and eye gauging are way over the line, and Michigan State players were coming at the pile late all game trying to take Braxton out (with the Gholston injury play being the best example).

Mark Dantonio is a dirty coach, there is no doubt about it.

To have their fans mocking an injured player and to have their coaches publicly whine about the tape they received after the game is pathetic (as others have mentioned, why wasn't it brought up earlier in the week?).

The worst part is that Sparty will probably never get rid of their "little brother" attitude either. I have interacted with Michigan State fans. Their MO is to talk massive amounts of shit prior to games and then shrug it off afterwards because "they didn't really think they were going to win anyway."

If that doesn't scream little brother I don't know what does.

Bottom line, Michigan State is not a quality program worthy of even the tiniest amount of respect.

Maybe this should be in the UFM thread, but did anyone else notice that in the post- game interview on the field that Coach Meyer just seems thrilled to be where he is? He seemed to be ignoring the reporter and just kept looking around, taking it all in, with a big s**t eating grin. Looked like a kid in a candy store! Just thought that was pretty cool.

The only time I ever saw BukIGuy in person was before the Thursday night Marshall game a couple years ago. He was standing off in a corner at a mostly empty RiverJam eating an entire pizza by himself. I figured there was nothing I could say to him in that situation that he wasn't already kinda saying about himself.
Hey if eating an entire pizza by yourself is bad then I don't wanta be right... ..:oh::io:

is it bad I find all three to be annoying? Attention should be on the team not a couple of fans.

To be quite honest, I find it clownish. These aren't just some dumb drunk kids with their shirts off in the snow, but obviously grown men that are total attention whores. And the problem with that, is that young kids are gonna think it's cool to show up looking like that too.

I know it's the thing to hate them now (hell even I don't like them)...but before we complain about grown men dressing up for a game, Neutron Man also did it.

Until his death in 2004, King promoted and contributed to the Ohio State Marching Band and Ohio State Cheerleading programs. He helped to raise money for both groups and, being the owner of several restaurants, frequently catered lunches for the students after the marching band and cheerleading tryouts. Spawning from his popularity, a Neutron Man Beanie Baby was even created. A portion of the money generated from sales went to a cheerleading scholarship.

One guy actually gave back to OSU, while these douchebags only take from OSU. At least that's the way I see it.

I am still puzzled by the soft coverage... I read into that...

I know it's HS vs the big time.. but Woodard gets right in your nostrils and stays there.. UFC coverage.. wonder if he'll be allowed next year.. I could easily see Woodard/Grant playing in-your-face coverage... and with that DL.. the LBs and safeties should have time to eat ice cream cones if they want

Yesterdays game fit Sabino... IMO the best game he's played

Nathan Williams and Fragle made some money yesterday

Did I miss it.. or were there zero passes to TEs yesterday... and 1 to Stoney

I've been hard on the defense but I can't put blame on them. They gave up 1 touchdown and completely shut down the running game. Tackling is still a bit of an issue but I didn't think it was nearly as bad as it has looked. Overall, I think we forced them into passing situations which is what we wanted to do.

Braxton Miller is tough, man. That said, I can't wait for his passing to improve so that we don't have to rely on his legs so much. I just hold my breath sometimes when I see opposing players coming in to make big hits. That play where he hurt his knee/leg and fumbled could have happened to anyone, and I'm not really worried about plays like that. But the one where William Gholston "got the wind knocked out of him" was nearly the end of the game for Braxton and I can't believe that wasn't a penalty.

Speaking of penalties, Sparty was hitting us late all game. They're a fucking dirty ass team. Gouging eyes and hitting a guy when he's down with your helmet are clear examples of it. Fuck any equity that Dantonio had with this fanbase. He's a fucking sore loser and it's clear that he's made this style of play part of his defensive mantra.

Really happy with this win. Last year, we lost like 6 games that were close. It feels good to be winning this close games.

Oh Wah!, complaining about how fans choose to support the team. Give me a break. If these guys and other want to dress up more than you or I do then live with it. Or go complain to your mom about her cooking for God's sake. They probably complain about the way you sit on your hands when the team isn't doing good. :bonk:
