tOSU Recruiting Discussion

'Bama fans have gotta be salty that they can't throw all of their coaches at recruits' doors right now like we can. Gives us a BIG time advantage right now with all of these big time blue chippers to close out the year

Could end up being the straw that broke the camel's back with Baron Browning. We were able to bring the house to the in-home visit and Alabama could only muster 1 assistant to their in-home
Bama hs the #1, 4, 5 and 7 OLB in the country committed right now, I don't see tOSU having any type of advantage, nor should their fans be salty whatsoever, since they currently have the #1 class, and have done so almost yearly at this point.
I personally am always wary of Alabama, whether they send 1 coach or 4 to a kid, because they're still the big dog in CFB, and we're all still chasing them. It also can say a lot to a kid that Saban couldn't visit him because he was preparing for yet another SEC championship, something that they're coach could also use in their favor
Bama throws away 4 and 5stars kids after 1-2yrs for not producing, because they recruit so well. You may want to pump the brakes or at least remove the scarlet hued glasses for a little...

My guess.....which will likely change by the time I post this.....

QB - Martell
RB - Dobbins
WR - Grimes, Lindsey, Harris
OL - Myers, Davis
DT - Cage, Garrett, Tufele
DE - Young
LB - Browning, Werner, White
DB - Wade, Pryor, Williamson, Riep, Okudah, Sheffield
K - Haubell

- They'll obviously wait on another OL (likely Munford) until they get an answer from Smith, but I expect him to end up elsewhere (likely Tennessee).
- By all reports, the staff couldn't have done a better job with Marvin Wilson during his visit....that being said, I expect him to stay south.
- They likely also made up ground with Holmes, but I'm expecting UCLA there.
- The momentum with Bolden seems to have worn off since his visit....thinking he stays out west, likely USC....especially now with Sheffield showing legit interest. Sheffield would likely be an instant starter....you don't turn that type of talent away.
- As others have stated, Schiano has been beating the drum for Bell, so there's another name to watch.

Not making the B1G Championship Game was a huge blessing in disguise....while other teams are preparing for their games, the OSU staff is out recruiting. New names will certainly come and go.....no one was even talking about Werner or Sheffield last week.....it's going to be a fun & interesting couple weeks.

That DB class would be unreal and very much needed if hooker, conley, and lattimore all leave.

So the class will almost certainly finish with some combination of these players (247 national ranking):

Marvin Wilson (3)
Cam Akers (5)
Jeffrey Okudah (7)
Darnay Holmes (12)
Trey Smith (20)
Jay Tufele (58)
Jaylen Harris (174)
Markquese Bell (181)
Thayer Mumford (281)
Pete Werner (284)
Kendall Sheffield (JUCO 12)

To go with:
Baron Browning (9)
Josh Myers (10)
Wyatt Davis (15)
Trevon Grimes (17)
Shaun Wade (21)
Chase Young (30)
Tyjon Lindsey (35)
JK Dobbins (39)
Isaiah Pryor (48)
Tate Martell (55)
Haskell Garrett (60)
Brendon White (112)
Amir Riep (125)
Marcus Williamson (139)
Jerron Cage (229)
Blake Haubeil (NR, #1 K)

Not too shabby.

3/4 of this class is ranked in scout's top 100. Not too shabby indeed

Don't understand the animosity there.

It's a stone cold fact... Ohio State has a major advantage being able to let their head coach and assistants loose around the country to visit these kids for an entire week while Alabama's coaches are stuck on campus getting ready for one last big game. Browning's committment only cements that sentiment... no scarlet hued glasses needed.

Like MDBuck said... blessing in disguise not having to play in the B1G championship game

Nothing could have powered recruiting this cycle better than the 2016 NFL Draft; having rookie Buckeyes in contention for DROY, OROY, and MVP #developedhere. 5* kids want to get to the NFL and be stars. Nobody can sell that better on the recruiting trail than this coaching staff right now. Not even Bama.

^^^^^THIS^^^^^^

And then little things like Urbs record at tOSU and The Game (largest Gameday audience ever) certainly don't hurt.

Yes, this is the Golden Age.
