tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Thanks. Taking only 2 OL seems risky

Ordinarily I would agree but we took a ton of OL in the '15 and '16. That being said, I would imagine some of those guys are going to get hard looks in the bowl practices and the staff will evaluate if we need another OL. I would love to have Munford in, but I also want to see how things shake out with Wilson, Akers, etc.

The question I ponder is if OSU has room for Jay and Wilson. That'd be a nice infusion of size and talent at DT. Both appear likely at this point.

Texas insiders say it's LSU and OSU, which OSU out in front. Would be a crazy steal by Urbs and co.

That would be downright insane. I honestly think Wilson would immediately be in the two deep here...rare for a DT but he's got the size, talent and technique to be an instant impact. if Jay and Wilson want in, no idea how you say no to either, particularly when that position has been the lone "weak" spot. I only quote "weak" because some of those guys are looking pretty good for us and progressing nicely. However, most of those guys are also more traditional 3-techs and some giant 1-techs that can move would be a plus.

In no way is this a "sky is falling" post but the reality is other staffs are going to continue to recruit kids committed to OSU. For example:

Notre Dame insiders continue to give their subscribers hope they can flip Cage. Based mainly on his brother being there, although his career could be over due to injuries, and the fact they are banking on OSU not having room IF they hand Tufele or Wilson. He was quoted by 247 as being fired up about Browning joining the defensive haul. Has not taken any officials yet, to OSU or ND or anywhere else, so I guess it still bears watching down the stretch. If he visits ND then my concern level goes up. He is the recruit no one is talking about in this class.

Texas insiders continue to give their subscribers hope they can flip Dobbins. Based mainly on the fact Dobbins was visited in-school by Herman but from what I understand Dobbins declined an in-home visit with the Texas staff. I have no concerns about Dobbins unless he makes an official to Texas this weekend then all bets are off. Absolutely no reason to think that is going to happen but I'm just throwing it out there as a warning.

Alabama insiders continue to give their subscribers hope they can flip Wade. However I think their confidence has waned and they appear to be focused on other DB recruits. I think OSU has done enough to keep Wade in the class. Wont be taking any more visits or having any more coaches visit once the dead period starts.

I think Okudah and Werner are done deals. I think OSU gets one of Tufele (more likely) and Wilson (less likely). And I think there will be one or two other recruits in the class...maybe Sheffield, Munford, Bell, Harris, Bolden or Holmes. Doubt they could squeeze in more than two of those guys. Sheffield/Bolden and Harris seem to be the most likely candidates.

Fired up as in pumped up about it? Or upset?

Doesn't the dead period mean that coaches can't visit anyway?

Do they get only one? Or would both still be possible? Also, though you view Wilson as less likely than Tufele, what would you put the odds at for landing Wilson? Is Tufele a 90/10 and Wilson an 80/20? Or is Wilson more 50/50 or lower?
