2018 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

We have 5 top-50, 9 top-100 and 12 top-150 players signed right now and there are still people wringing their hands. I truly do loathe some segments of our fan base.

To put things into perspective more. scUMs top current signee would be the 13th highest rated player in Ohio State's class as it currently stands.

Exactly.

The only B1G program even in the same zip code recruiting-wise right now is ped aggy, and I think they have a harsh reality facing them losing Moorhead. I think his ability as an OC had a lot more to do with their success than anything else the past two seasons.

Stating outright bull[Mark May] is not simply "that's recruiting" or a "great recruiting strategy". He might as well have said, "I heard rumors that Ohio State is going to get put on probation...I can't give you the specifics, but trust me on this one"
Sorry buddy, if you really think that all coaches go into kids houses and speak honestly, then following recruiting ain't for you. It is what it is. Coaches are feeling need to do this to keep up in recruiting or just remain elite like Clemson. Whatever. Do people realize that LJsr used negative recruiting against OSU for years? He's one of our best coaches now!

To be clear my issue with this class is the lack of bodies at OT and DE.
We simply don’t have enough personnel at these positions in the program.
That point isn’t in dispute by anybody with chops.
My query was how do we address it before Feb, lest we will be forced to bring in 10 next year and rely on true frosh in 2019.

So, since some coaches have to resort to deception or outright lying because they "feel the need to do this to keep up in recruiting", doesn't mean that all--or most--coaches do so.

If you think that is below board then you know less about recruiting than I thought.
Just because "below board" shit happens doesn't make it no longer "below board".

I am working on my plan to fix this. I will post it on here once I have confirmation that Urban has agreed to implement it, until then I don't want any other poster taking credit for my plan for the fix with the coaching staff.

When you say "some" coaches, I hope you mean pretty much ALL of them that are considered elite(yes, including OSU). Step down of the OSU fan pedastal and into reality. Im sure a coach has used Sabans age in recruiting, or the fact that a team doesn't have a coach, or team that underwent sanctions, etc to recruit. Thats all in the same being as negative recruiting. Get over it! How many kids did OSU offer when Texas was in flux and just recently with Tennessee, where was your outrage then? Or when OSU offered kids committsd to Ole Miss, or when Miami was having sanction issues? Like I said, recruiting ain't for you if what Dabo said got you emotional. It is what it is when it comes to crootin'. not for the faint of heart or those who feign one sided emotion because they lost out on a recruit

I'm going to continue doing nothing, other than trivial mocking of bad interneters.

There's a significant difference between mentioning a coach's age and saying the guy's not going to be around on a couple years...but if you can't see that, well then I can't help you.
