Game Thread tOSU @ Sparty, Nov 8th @ 8pm ET, ABC

Just think if they would have called MSU for the offsides they should have on that first drive. I think the missed call directly led to the hands to the face penalty. It was also woefully missed on the prior play.
There were several off-sides that MSU got away with early...I think our staff "chatted" with the refs soon afterward and from that point on MSU seemed to quit jumping off-sides. Another thing that could've made it a bigger win was Apple dropping that sure pick-six on MSU's first drive of the second half (which they went on to kick a FG). It could've been 35-21 instead of 28-24...

Yes and the muffed "scoop and score" prior to that on the same series...

This is what kept us from blowing them out early. Keep in mind that after the missed FG on our opening drive, we scored TDs on 7 of 8 possessions, including 6 straight possessions...and that's with fumbling the ball away on a punt and kickoff during that span. Now Sparty did get 536 yards of offense, but 199 of those came after we went up 42-24 early in the fourth and we played looser defense to prevent the big strike.
We won by 2 scores, but EASILY could have been 4 scores. We had very few breaks, if any, go our way. They had maybe 5, whether it be fumbles on ST, us barely missing their fumbles on offense, missed easy int that could have been a TD potentially, etc.

Edit: and the above mentioned non offsides that killed our drive. Went from 1st and 5 at like the 25 or something, to 2nd and 15. Then it all went downhill.

Considering we score a touch down on the next drive, it was only a 3 point swing.

Uh, no, because after we score the pick-six we kick off back to MSU.

If Pick 6, then: 35-21. They get the ball again.

But in reality, the score is: 35-24. They kick the field goal, but we score a TD right after. They get the ball back.
JFC, it's a simple concept really...the result of MSU's drive would be us leading 35-21 instead of only 28-24. There's the 11-point swing. Anything happening after is moot.

Oh for sure. Except that one drive that was killed by the hands to the face penalty the offense was humming from the get go. It's scary what this team could do if they put all 3 phases together for 4 quarters.

What a great game for the good guys. They not only made a strong statement that tOSU is the top dog in the B1G but also a serious contender to be in the final four. Hopefully Nebraska continues to win and slips into the top ten. That would be a great way to close out by beating a top ten team in the conference championship game.

Against MSU, the OL came into their own. After the 1st Quarter they played an amazing game against a strong front seven. Our receivers are significantly improved over last year. They were flat out better than the MSU secondary. Zeke and JT running the ball were magic. The only thing that kept the game close was the poor special teams play and a failure to capitalize on turnovers. Like someone else said, MSU seemed to get all the breaks. But make no mistake about THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES rule the roost in the B1G!!

One final thing: The game plan and coaching was the best I've seen under this coaching staff.

To think that this is such a young team brings a smile to my face.

Not sure if I am correct here............But I think that Jim Tressel started this Tradition of the team Joining in with OSUMB after all the games to sing "Carmen". I know that YSU did this tradition back in Youngstown, with the team joining in wth the band to do their alma mater when Tressel was coaching there. Anyway it is such a great and fine Tradition.

Pardon my ignorance but what is the first song they play in the video, before Carmen Ohio?

Is this a trick question? Buckeye Swag is the song played before Carmen, it isn't however the first song in the video.

You're right, I realized that after the fact. I was thinking of another video that shows the celebration from the front, it starts with them dancing to Buckeye Swag and then shows Carmen.

Thanks for the answer though, I have a degree from OSU and am working on another, and somehow did not know that song...
