tOSU Transfer Portal Recruiting Discussion

After getting a good, long look at him, I'm sure tcun is giving us two thumbs up Ohio State hosting McLaughlin

Yeah, there’s a reason Bama isn’t sad to see him go. It’s hard to see a reason why a lineman would move laterally between schools without a reason like homesick or pt. If it’s talent, then he needs to be moving down in schools - not moving to Columbus.

Who played against better defensive fronts on average?

I’d say McLaughlin.

Banking on McLaughlin reverting back to 2021/2022 form, a nice change of scenery it could happen. Assuming theres zero faith in Hinzman, that Pass Block grade, woof.

His bad snaps were definitely an issue in that game and he probably feels the need to get out of Tuscaloosa as his last bad snap is being blamed by some for throwing off timing on 'Bama's final play, removing the pass option on the RPO and forcing Milroe to make a bad run (people are saying the pass was open). That all being said, I didn't see much difference in his snapping than what we often saw last season at tOSU, and from your graphic it looks like he grades out a little better.

Some Bama fans for some reason looking to blame anyone but the coaches. I think That last play was pretty clearly a awfully drawn up QB draw right into a Michigan D that saw it coming from miles away. Even if the snap was great the result of the play likely doesn't end up much better.

He had snapping issues in the Auburn game as well.
I do think this was a mental issue, which a change in scenery can certainly fix. If those snaps were better, I highly doubt he's transferring.
Would gladly, gladly take Seth in to OSU.
The staff were really taken aback by Luke Wypler leaving for NFL…..unfortunately Victor Cutler didn’t cut it, and we had to insert Hinzman before he was physically ready.

I think Wypler returning makes a massive difference in the line play we saw in 2023…and in hindsight, I think Wypler probably regrets decision to leave….he could’ve built on that amazing performance against UGA and likely have been a 2nd or 3rd rounder this year.

I’d also state, I think Frye did a damn good job last year….he had way more talent to work with, but kids like Dawand Jones and Wypler both played extremely well…..there was a significant gap in talent and depth that certainly needs to be addressed but it’s not like we haven’t seen Frye have an amazing OL unit….last year was pretty special.

That’s what confuses me about this. I don’t see how the staff thinks this guy is better than Hinzmans potential upside. Unless they are going to move this guy to Guard and utilize his blocking abilities and frame. Maybe Hinzman at center and move Fryar out to Guard as well (his natural position).

Who knows at this point with the line.

Fryar and this McLaughlin guy at guard positions sounds good to me.

Idk if I’m ready to give the starting spot to either tbh. Id like to see them compete with the young kids. Because I liked Siereveld and Tshabola coming out of HS. And I could see either one starting next year. But I think McLaughlin is being brought in to compete at OC with Hinzman and Padilla

I think for next year you’re taking the developed body and experience over upside….big year for OSU and the experience is critical.

I think Hinzman would benefit by a year behind a veteran, and continue to focus on gaining good weight. I see it as a positive Hinzman, thus far, is not transferring out.

I love an interior with Jackson, McCalughlin, Fryar and then figure out opposite OT of Simmons. I think it’s coming together….

I think the snapping issues are a little overstated too….Im personally not that worried about it.
