Trey DePriest (former LB Alabama)

Didn't Trey earlier state that he was gonna take his time? I think it plays into our advantage that he might be wanting to get it over with. Reason being, our class is filling up and we recently offered another LB that has scheduled a visit. Plus the Price kid from PA has an offer and many say we are the team to beat for his services. Pair that info with the fact that Bama's class is never full. They have been know to "oversign" so Trey don't have to be in a hurry. I'm not saying that tOSU will end up with DePriest, but I think the staff lit a fire under his tail with the offer to the LB from FL.

who cares???? we're ohio state, we'll be perfectly fine whether he picks us or not

whatever good luck
Agreed. I'm just not very concerned with our Linebacker recruiting overall. It'd be great if he picks us, absolutely fine if he doesn't. I want just want Ohio State to get the young men who want to be Buckeyes! And that is almost always the case. DePriest just needs to answer that question.

There might be up to 4 Bama players ineligible for this season because of attending an agents party on South Beach. Sounds like there are alot of distractions down there in Tuscaloosa. Over the last ten+ years they have been in trouble constantly. Taking benefits left and right/ selling books for profit/ messing around with agents...IDK if I were his family I might start putting Alabama under a microscope for awhile.

Are you saying you don't think Saban is a classy, stand-up guy who only has the best interest of the kids in mind?

The audacity of some people. Who could question the integrity of someone with such high moral character as Nick Saban. And then, you step over the line again and question the integrity of a school who has had a long-standing history of playing by the rules (sarcasm being laid on thick if you couldn't tell).

I am sure there is a huge list of big time recruits that have decided against Ohio State, lets just say in the past four years, and we are still a pretty good team. We could be pre-season #2.

People forget this. The coaching staff brings in the talent and teaches/coaches them to be better. Getting Trey would be great, but if he chooses to go somewhere else, we will manage without him.

I'm no Chicken Little. And by no means am I suggesting that Trey DePriest going elsewhere will be tragic for Buckeye football. But given our overall LB situation (graduation and departures are imminent), I think a lot of people are taking his recruitment way too casually.

Trey needs to go where he wants to go, obviously. I just really, really want that to be Ohio State.

so what would you prefer? Worrying like with crable and burgess? Zordich? Brent, Still, Barksdale?

Ohio produces so many quality lbs that lower tier squads like wisconsin and purdue stock up on ohio state leftovers. If they miss on everyone, they can just move on to the next chris borland.

McVey and Durham were good pickups, and price, turene and others are still in play this year.

Yeah I guess there should be some concern considering the upcoming LB depth.....but don't forget about the past. Remember all of the hang ringing that went on when Mike D'Andrea was also considering Nebraska? What happened at the end of his career after he had picked OSU?

Don't forget about all the injuries, academic casualties, disciplinary problem childs, transfers, super prospects who don't pan out etc. etc. that thin out the herd. Todays hot recruit is quickly forgotten about once they leave the team for any of those reasons. I'm not saying Depriest will be one of those...just keep in mind Mike D'Andrea, Conner Smith, Duron Carter, Eugene Clifford, Keith Wells, Jamel Turner, Lamaar Thomas, RJ Coleman, EJ Underwood, Marcel Frost, Ira Guilford, Brandon Maupin, Darius Hiley, Kyle Mitchum, Eric Haw, Sirjo Welch, Chad Hoobler, Jamario O'neal etc. etc.

Do you want me to keep going?

im happy with what we have gotten out of our "3 star, 4 star" LB's for the past decade...JT and his staff have proven we can develop low recruited players into all americans...not saying i dont want Trey, and it would suck losing a ohio kid to someone out of state, but its not the end of the world and like jwinslow said theres alot of other good LB's we are in the running for

Plenty of LB recruiting time left

Hotmic and RB07OSU are saying Bama who has always been in the lead. Good luck to Trey.

It's better to get his commitment out of the way earlier so that OSU has more time til signing day to work with other recruits. We're not left with no time to recoup.
Count the courtesy as a blessing.

Disappointed but OSU always has great backers.

Not sure why so many are conceding this one... until I hear it from Trey... ain't conceding anything...

JT preaches to make sure OSU is right for you... and Trey is doing just that...

plus, he's going back to Bama in August... I have been to Bama in August... and it ain't a DRY heat... it's the real deal... with 100% humidity and all... brutal

Agreed with all. Much rather have Trey than not, and I hate it when you see those post-commitment posts where suddenly everyone says the kid wasn't all that good etc, but tOSU will be fine at LB...somehow we always are.
