If Gene wants to move on I wouldn’t be against it. Too undisciplined with turnovers. and not getting to loose balls

On the bright side with Holtman is we seeem to be improving recruiting. Instead of where we started with Matta hot then kinda fell off to a what felt like 15-20 ish class every year. Does that mean we'll get better? Probably, will we still display the same tendencies to be loose with the ball and not know how to break a press? Also Probably

They aren’t “moving on” from Holtzman this year.
That’s dumb.
Supposedly a highly ranked recruiting class coming in.
Though Thornton and Sensibaugh are ranked high they aren’t athletic.
Next year is big as a decision will have to be made about an extension.

As I mentioned in a different thread we have to look into why guys are getting hurt all the time.
And we need to become more athletic.
Christ Akron was more athletic then us.

Sueing and Towns didn’t play at all.
I’ve heard Sueing basically decided he didn’t want to play this year.
We should move on from Towns.
I have no desire to give him a 7th year of college.
Our backcourt is a complete mess.
Meechie is always hurt and not productive.
We had to hit the portal for 2 guards who aren’t good but ended up being the best we have.
Not sure what Eugene Brown gives us.
If Branham leaves we will struggle next year.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we don’t win another game this year.

I agree. And my post wasn't saying we need to move on from Holtmann. He has us playing a little above our historical norm.

Much of our fanbase experienced the dizzying highs of the first half of Matta's career. What too many don't realize is that Matta was a unicorn. Chances of finding another guy like that aren't great, especially at a football school whose fanbase treats basketball as a convenient distraction from football when the team is winning. Not saying finding a coach that can repeat, or st least approach Matta's success is an impossility; just that it won't be easy. You know what you have in Holtmann...and it isn't bad, but moving on wades into unknown waters.

Yep too many people, expect Oden's, Koofus, Sullenger, Connely, and Deiblers or even Lighty'sfor that fact to be the norm. BJ Mullens was considered a disappointment in that era when he would a significan't piece in most eras

Fuck. I had a feeling they would lose. I’m anticipating a short B1G tournament and an early exit from a talent-inferior but coaching-superior team in March Madness

Should they consider moving on from Holtmann? If they can find a good replacement I say Hell yes

I think Holtmann is a good coach. He's bet a little too hard on injury prone players and he is paying for it, even though we are still a Tournament team and always have been under him.

We're never going to be great under him unless the defensive efficiency improves. That was Holtmann's thing and now it is bad for the second season in a row. Holtmann's whole thing is about balance on both ends through versatility but he's not getting what he needs to get on the defensive end for consistent success.

I'm in a weird place where I wouldn't be upset if OSU fired Holtmann in the next year or two if the results stayed at this level at the same time I'm not confident that OSU would hire a certifiably better coach. But, hey, maybe the next coach would have better luck with roster health or something.
