I think we're going to change all FieldTurf (or Motz/Shaw Turf technically) to natural grass other than inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

And I think Ohio State needs to attack the transfer portal like they never have before.

I also think the mantra of "Love" that Ryan Day preaches needs to be changed. The entire mentality of the team needs to change. I don't want to hear more slogans (Competitive Stamina) or see any more hype trailers.

What pisses me off.. I don't know how we'd fare if we faced scUM again in the CFP
What would make me believe our DBs would be any different
I have no doubt we lose again if we got them again in the playoffs.
If anyone would have told me scUMs DBs would GREATLY outplay our DBS I've have accused them of doing crack
Oh I would've believed them. Our corners have been dreadful all year and our safeties haven't really been there to support our corners.

My biggest frustration was we had 2 opportunities to get the ball up 10-3 and did nothing. If we score and go up 17-3 or even 24-3 I think they fold.

We had 315 yards by half time and 120 of their 200 yards came from 2 plays. Ryan Day liked where we were at the half and dammit so did I. We were on pace for 630 yards and 40 points. Yet we only score 3 points in the second half?

Thats all coaching. Seriously how is Jim a good coach? The guy is literally probably on the spectrum and he made Ryan Day look like a child.

I'm no longer surprised when any team outplays anyone on Ohio State's defense.

The secondary has been bad for multiple years (save for Hafley's year) and they even brought in a CB and a S coach this season and there are still lack of coverage discipline.

I'm tired of people not being held accountable for poor play. The only one I can think of is Josh Procter.

Defensively I'm tempted to just run the same gameplan. Even with the busts OSU should've been up by 3 TDs at the half, forcing JJ to air it out. Offensively IDK. First half I didn't have a ton of issues with play calling. SCUM was also closer to 100% healthy than OSU was so I can imagine a fully healthy Buckeye executing a little better.

Wouldn't matter though because this team would probably get steamrolled by UGA in the first round.

unless you know something … bolded isn’t happening considering they just spent nearly $1M on new Fieldturf… now yes “that isn’t that much for an AD” but I just dont see it happening.

here’s what I’m on the lookout for
  • Who of our players enter the portal?
  • If Parker Flemming is still employed before Spring ball?
  • The injury report from spring ball … I’m sorry but I think the methods of Mick might have run their course we’ve been getting bullied around the last number of years and i know everyone says its Day but I’m pretty sure Mick has a brain of his own and wouldn’t stand for this if he didn’t agree.
  • If Wilson is asked to find a job elsewhere?
  • If Walton gets asked to move on back to the NFL? However Day fucked up the D hiring last year by not really letting Knowles pick guys he knew could coach his system to bring in or bringing in a more traditional but better DC.
  • If Day realizes 18-22 year olds aren’t the same as 22-35 year olds… when there are grown ass men in the locker room you can be a little lax…
  • If Day gives up play calling.

Coach Day’s “Hang 100” comment, even if it was an internal meeting, was the single biggest miscalculation in the rivalry and that lack of judgement alone should be grounds for termination. Michigan has obviously used it to fuel through their fucking mentally handicapped head coach and curb stomp OSU in back to back years, while Ohio State chokes at the slightest sense of adversity because they are playing so tight, trying to live up to Day’s threat.

Maybe he meant hang 100 over the course of 4 games, because if that’s the case, he’s on track.

Ryan Day has a conundrum on his hands and it’s going to be long offseason filled with what ifs and self reflection.

I think that was last offseason.

After getting housed by your rival two in a row, this offseason is different. It's almost win or get fired for 2023 (even though Day is obviously not going to get fired prior to 2025 with that buyout ~ close to $45m if fired after 2023).

The good: The weather was nice
The bad: everything else

Post your thoughts/rants/wants/etc here.

The good: I think the offensive line played very well considering. Stroud had a clean pocket most of the time and they were getting movement in the running game.

The bad: This team has no offensive identity. None. That will not work at any level from peewee up through the NFL. It's not individual talent - there are NFL players all over the roster. It's conceptual and it's been an issue even going back to last year. This MUST change.

The ugly: The defense. Holy hell. There was no way scUM should have EVER looked like Ohio State against Ohio State. If you would have told me that one team would have scored 5 TDs over 40 yards I would have told you it had to be Ohio State. Instead, and this goes back to the identity thing, Ohio State tried to change who they were on defense to combat 1 team, rather than having an identifiable system and then going from there. They DID, however, have an identifiable system all year long and it mostly worked. Why go away from it?!

Overall, yesterday was overthought, overwrought and thoroughly disappointing. Even worse, for a team that talked about having "toughness" all year, it sure as hell didn't look like they had it in the 2nd half. Nor pride either. People who like to talk about how tough they are tend to have a glass jaw, and Ohio State absolutely has that now and it's been shown for everyone to see - live and in color.
