ttun recruiting (all classes)

The silence on social media is wild. It’s become the most forgettable championship I can remember. Amazing!

The coach with one foot out the door and a major NCAA investigation looming. These things are going to be remembered more than the championship by those outside of DFBIA

Harbaugh has gained exactly zero recruiting momentum from three straight playoff appearances and a championship, no reason to start now.

DFBIA is all in on their amazing talent evaluation and development of their mediocre recruiting classes. Now that they’re not cheating their asses off to prop up the mediocre talent (hey, remember when TCU made them look like clowns by giving false signals to steal?) and they’re experiencing massive roster attrition, may those notions fall apart as they, at least, revert back to the results they were achieving every. single. year. prior to deciding to cheat at an unprecedented level.

Also, props to JJ McCarthy. He was a winning QB who had OSU’s number that was probably at least partly attributable outside of the cheating.

He’s gone, too. Fuck them.

Like rats off a sinking ship. They got us with their best team against the worst team we've had in years. Still pissed that they cheated Stroud out of beating them twice and a Heisman trophy. The NCAA penalties might be enough to kill TTUN for a generation.

I don’t think Harbaugh even really liked recruiting a ton to begin with but the COVID shenanigans allowing his players to stay for like 6/7 years got him even more comfortable in not recruiting.

Then as well the last couple of years they’ve really had to rely on the transfer portal for keeping certain positions strong, especially the OL. That luster is wearing off as well with the Harbaugh uncertainty. They aren’t grabbing better portal guys this year to shore up the OL so they are going to have to rely on guys they’ve actually recruited the last 3 or so years

I think Hairball doesn't care and has left the assistants to steer the boat in recruiting(they're probably better at too, not as weird). I don't think the guys they've gotten for the most part are signing with scUM because of Hairball, its kids who want to attend and play for the program regardless of coach. Hence why we haven't seen a ton of decommits or lost guys to the portal.

They’re not abiding by the 85 scholarship limit by paying for all transfers through NIL and not putting them on scholarship (which, again, you’d think the NCAA would want to do something about since it’s clearly against the spirit and intention of that rule), so their recruiting philosophy seems to be getting as many bodies as possible in the pipeline and processing them until (they hope) they find a few starters.

As you said, the COVID year (and cheating their way out of the 85 scholarship limit) was hugely beneficial to that process, but now we can all hope it comes crashing back to earth.

If Harbaugh leaves his assistants will be gone so we would really see a avalanche of decommits and portal jumps

The transfer haul isn't gonna be there this year, they've already totally missed out on any major options in the first window. They could add guys in the second window but the quality isn't as good there as it's mostly guys transferring because they failed to win starting jobs for the most part.

It'll be interesting seeing their oline be composed of almost all Harbaugh & co recruits. They are all JR/SRs and of course DFBIA thinks because they've had depth the past 2 years, which was pretty much due to the transfer portal additions, it's gonna be there for sure again in 2024. These guys they have are so good that they got transfer portal recruited over the past 2 years........
