It seems to be performance (on field) based. Which is fine, it happens all the time, almost everywhere. Kids get offers pulled, or are gently nudged into looking in another direction...it's part of the business. But not even giving them a hint that it could be coming, and pulling an offer 3 weeks before NLOID, is just a [Mark May]ty thing to do. Especially to a kid that has been committed for a very long time. It's not a good look...at all.

(Brought this over from 2015, since BP seems to want us to move on. )

Anyway, it's particularly obnoxious when you see the statement the kid made about the coaching change:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2609497-4-star-ol-erik-swenson-tweets-decommitment-from-michigan

"Swenson committed to Michigan all the way back in November 2013, when Brady Hoke was the Wolverines' coach.

Last summer, Swenson told Baumgardner he wanted to remain loyal to his Michigan commitment, even after the program's firing of Hoke and hiring of Harbaugh:

'You have to stick with your commitment, you committed to Michigan, you have to honor that. You made a commitment and you have to show you're willing to honor it. There will be ups and downs at any place, and any place you go you'll have to show you can push through them.' "
