ttun team recruiting rankings compared to tOSU's....

2016: 4th -- 3rd
2017: 4th -- 2nd
2018: 24th -- 2nd
2019: 18th -- 13th (currently)
Yes, both of those classes were quite large. Quantity over quality.
Average star rankings Urban vs Harbrau (discounting 2015 season):

Recruiting YearOhio State-Michigan-
2016 Rivals3.76*3.59*
2016 24791.5689.86
2017 Rivals4.10*3.67*
2017 24794.5991.20
2018 Rivals3.92*3.32*
2018 24794.2988.75
2019 Rivals3.64*3.45*
2019 24792.7190.36
On average, Ohio State recruits have a Rivals rating of 3.88* and a 247 rating of 93.33.

On average, Michigan recruits have a Rivals rating of 3.54* and a 247 rating of 90.13.

The average Ohio State recruit outranks the average Michigan recruit by .34* on Rivals and 3.2 points on 247. That's a huge advantage in favor of Ohio State.

He goes back to his alma mater, a storied major college program and can’t do shit. He won’t last much longer there.

Agree to disagree here. Going back to my Don Quixote analogy, DFBIA is Sancho Panza and Sancho didn't let go of the myth that Don Jimmote was going score him an Insula until well past the point any reasonable person would have because 1) he was a stupid fuck and 2) he wanted to believe it (2 being the real driver).

Don Jimmote will tilt at windmills up there well past the point of what we would consider reasonable because, at the nend of the day, DFBIAnza wants the insula and has no other way to get it.

Which I guess eliminates high school as an option for him. His “schtick,” if it can even be called one instead of just calling it his “norm,” doesn’t seem to be resonating with 17-18 year old kids. It wore thin with grown men in the locker room and FO in SF. It isn’t drawing high schoolers to Michigan so the lack of success coupled with just being Jim, has to be wearing thin in Ann Arbor. There just doesn’t seem to be a place that he can ever settle in and call home. A place where it actually works for all parties and something is actually accomplished.

scUM is so shell shocked from the Rich Rod/Hoke Era that they are ok with 3rd place division finishes annually. I legit think it would take a total disaster 5-7/4-8 type season for that to happen. Hes not gonna consistently beat the big boys (if he beats them at all) but as long as they keep beating on the schlubs on their schedules he probably has decent job security there.

Probably true.

I’m not so sure they are okay with the 3rd place finishes but as @Jaxbuck pointed out, they will most likely hold on to the ship until it is about to touch the ocean’s bottom because they have nothing else at this point to view as the way out. Then again, DFBIA is gon’ DFBIA and I can totally see them seeking out someone else as the savior even if that person is clearly not capable. 5-7 is an absolute possibility, though. Really, it could go either way. They are still recruiting near the top of the poor B1G but there is also a huge gap from them and the top due to the quality of recruits they are landing. They are much closer on the recruiting trail to everyone else than they are OSU and even PSU. Once they start swimming in mediocre waters, sometimes it only takes a game or two to really drive the stake in. The more even the playing field, the more that darkness settles in, the more those past probable wins become 50/50 and the more the 50/50 games turn to 40/60 and so forth.

They have no choice but to ride it out with the harbrau. None. He's been annointed "the chosen one" since about 2009/10. They gave him an obscene contract to fix their fucked up program. Getting rid of him will be admitting that nobody can do it.

As long as he wins 9 or 10 games a year on average and doesn't get himself wrapped up in any significant scandals, he'll he there as long as he wants. Now if he starts turning in 7-6 or 6-7 seasons on the regular vice 8, 9 and 10 win seasons, things would get warm.

All that “talent” and then Harbaugh eventually departs? Sounds like success!

I’ve never seen a more “successful” coach with nowhere to go. His act wore thin in the pros to where he wasn’t wanted after going to a Super Bowl. He goes back to his alma mater, a storied major college program and can’t do shit. He won’t last much longer there. Where can this guy land where he can actually do something? High School? AAF? CFL?

DIAA ?
I hear Delaware has similar uniforms
