Somehow it's escaped me that these people think every other school in the Big Ten is a community college.

Them and Ped State think the same way... though to be fair scUM can actually back it up a bit. They are a top-tier Public Uni along with Wiscy and IU... but they're all behind Northwestern anyway.
I wouldn't be shocked if a good chunk of this class ends up not finishing their college careers with scUM

You know Harbaugh is going to recruit over the bottom guys as much as possible. They've got 11 guys rated 500th+ nationally. They needed to get someone to fill out the roster, but those guys, unless they come in and light the world on fire, are going to be replaced on a drop of a dime if the opportunity allows. (which in turn will create further depth issues)

I'm sure he'd like to do that. But I don't see this getting better. He's an awful recruiter for obvious reasons...
MIchigan has now dropped to #21 in Scout. But to put their class in proper perspective, while being ranked #3 in the B1G they are 87 points behind OSU. They are only 50 points ahead of last place Northwestern.

And Fitzgerald may very well beat that ass too. @NW 9/29 8D
This would be my personal top French prospect.

A whole lot of 5* recruits... and I hear they may be looking for a transfer. :groove2:

IU? On what planet? They're easily a bottom third B1G school by any metric. Still good nationally, but way below us and most of the Big Ten. TSUN is legitimately a top two public with Berkeley. That the cult thinks ped state is up there with absolutely nothing backing that up is utterly ridiculous.

And once you get past merely looking at how hard a school is to get into on the undergraduate level, an awful lot of departments are probably stronger at tsun than at Northwestern. USN&WR hopelessly skews people to think that private schools are on a different level than top publics, when they're not. The ridiculously high ranking that Notre Dame gets is proof of that.

One thing to remember is that a lot of their students/alumni did not want to go to Michigan. I'm talking about the kids from the NE and the Chicago suburbs who had pinned their hopes on going to an elite private university for years and ended up at Michigan as a safety. These are the assholes who go through life with a massive chip on their shoulder and attempt to denigrate any other public university (excepting perhaps Berkeley or UVA) to try and make Michigan look better.

And one other thing to put things into perspective. The median SAT score at the very tip of the iceberg elite privates (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Chicago, Stanford, MIT & Cal Tech) is between 1475 and 1525. At Michigan, it's 1340 (4th among public schools), so around 150-170 points lower than the elite privates. In comparison, it's 1300 at Ohio State (10th among publics), so only 40 points lower than those motherless fucks in Ann Arbor.

Got to assume IU was meant to be University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

I meant Illinois... got confused which one uses "U of" =/ But yea Indiana is happy Nebraska joined so they're off the chopping block.
I often forget Maryland and Rutgers have joined too. Maryland is another school up there.
Northwestern isn't Notre Dame ... I wasn't making a comment about Privates. Some Privates are truly outstanding, Northwestern is one of them. I really liked their Grad Eng/CS programs... a lot of places rank scUM higher but wasn't that impressed*. I'm not independently wealthy though, so it's probably GTech's online Masters for me when the time comes.

*Maybe b/c I'm biased, maybe b/c Northwestern offers a lot more compelling programs related to strong math background... seems to me the only thing Michigan had was funding. But pretty safe rule of thumb these days is that only PhDs are funded and just don't have time for that. I want to get the MS, jump into Data, and go freelance - working from abroad - within a couple years.
