Wooster’s offensive line duo Chris Meenan and Cory Palmer were in attendance for the annual spring game. What were their lasting impressions of the trip?
Meenan: “It went real good. We got to talk to Tressel for a little bit and Jim Heacock the defensive coordinator. We got there a little late because of a track meet. We arrived just as the game was starting. When we first got there we went in. They took us up in an elevator and we checked in. Then they took us into a player lounge in the Shoe. They had all of the starting offensive players pictures, and pictures of all the all Americans. Archie Griffin. They had pictures of all the most memorable moments. Then we went down on the field and watched the first half. The defense played really well. At halftime we went back up into the recruiting lounge. That is when the coaches came up and were able to talk to us during their halftime. There were probably about 70 kids there. All the signees were there pretty much. The highlight of my day was just getting to talk to Jim Tressel. He is a real, real down to earth coach and he is real nice. It was neat to see where the players eat and hang out. The facilities were all first class.”
Palmer: “The whole stadium… It was a spring game and there were 33,000 fans there. They were real dedicated to be there. The recruiting room was real nice. Quite a few coaches talked with us and they were real friendly. We have a friend (Ben Kacsandi) that goes down there and we got to talk to him a little. We talked to Tressel and Bollman. They said they are coming up to Wooster to talk with our coaches. They are real nice people.”
