Going to be interesting to see what JL's first official recruiting class looks like. We are going to want two more to go with Lee and there are several high profile targets that we have a very legit chance on, one being Pettijohn, who I have only behind Faraimo in terms of want. Really I have all of Pettijohn, Faraimo, Alford and Melendez (I think his recruitment is not done) all about equal...if we can get 2 of those 4, it would be an excellent LB class. Note I am not counting Hill, who I see as a future DE but he could also be a LB and he is right there with those 4.

JL is looking to be a big asset on the recruiting trail.

Pettijohn hasn't seen Ohio State yet, but the history and tradition of the program stands out. Defensive assistants James Laurinaitis and Jim Knowles have been instrumental in establishing a relationship that will bring Pettijohn to Columbus.

"I'm just hoping to see the culture and their facilities," he said. "I know they've got it there, but I definitely want to see how they are going to look coming into the season and how I'll work into their defense. The relationship with coach (James) Laurinaitis and coach (Jim) Knowles is definitely good."

THE HURRY-UP: FOUR-STAR 2025 LINEBACKER RILEY PETTIJOHN WILL TAKE AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO OHIO STATE ON MAY 31

Pettijohn, the No. 34 prospect and No. 4 linebacker in the 2025 cycle per 247Sports’ composite rankings, visited Columbus on March 30.

“The atmosphere in Columbus was pretty exciting and we enjoyed spending time getting to know the coaches and getting a feel for the program as a whole,” Pettijohn’s father told On3 this week. “He was an All-American defensive lineman at Syracuse. “I think what excited Riley most about Ohio State is the competitive business-like approach the players have and the tradition of excellence there.”

Heading into the summer, Texas is likely the favorite to land Pettijohn at this point. But the Buckeyes will have a chance to make up ground in a hurry on his official visit, and James Laurinaitis has made it clear to Pettijohn that he’s a priority target for the Buckeyes.
