U.S. Women's National Soccer (USWNT)

Or maybe I just don’t know shit about fuck.
Well, you’re right about this.

But also about Rapinoe. She had a window where she was a tremendous ball striker with moments of brilliance but that went away quickly as she smelled her own stuff.

I’m a fan of hers. Just think her role should be end of bench and wish they tried harder to find a replacement.

Hope this was a token 30 minutes vs. a outmatched team.

Smith and Lavelle are superstars in the making. Very fun to watch. O'hara is fun to look at period but her game is good too.

They seem to play for a lot of headers, at least tonight, but they don't have great height or ability to get up in the air to get them on set pieces. They did better on it when crossing but their best game is obviously on the ball pressuring the other team. Could be why the older players are looking their age early on.

Well, I picked Germany to win this thing. I don't know if I'll be correct, but I don't think it'll be USWNT.

This team really looks old and looks like the same as they did in the 2021 Olympics.

They really need attacking mids with energy (Horan is a holding mid).

Thing I took away is that most of these players look like they’ve hardly ever played together at all, and decision making in the back 2/3 was more or less crisp money, in the final 1/3 it was hairy assmeat. Not a great showing, but when the other team packs 11 into the final 5/12 to not get beat like Thailand, it’s never going to be pretty.

I also agree about the aging players…less of them (other than Ertz), more of the young and hungries.

Could definitely tell this was a lineup that hadn’t played together. The problem is (and has been) how does that change. The entire cycle seems like they’ve struggled to find an identity as they filter out the old guard.

Long tournament. It’s game one. There is plenty of individual talent so it can come together hopefully.

And yeah credit to Vietnam. They were outmatched but scrappy enough in their World Cup debut to make things difficult.

And England looked like shite their 1st half vs. Haiti. I guess the women’s game really is global now, even at these smaller nations.

8 games, all with penalties so far. And they are not being taken well.

Oh and Brianna Scurry would have been in trouble with VAR. I’ve seen 2 PK re-takes because of GK encroachment.
