Hey Guys,

I'm a UAB fan planning on coming up for the UAB-Ohio St. game in September. Just wanted to see what you could tell me about lodging, bars, restaurants, and the overall gameday experience.

Thanks in advance

Hey welcome to BP! I can promise that if you look past the whooping your team will receive you will experience an atmosphere unlike any in the country. I'm not saying that to be cocky or anything as the "SHOE" is one of the all time greatest places to be on a Saturday in the fall. I just hope you understand that after last season and and a coaching change..it will also be one of the worst for any team visiting this season.

Is there a better way to enjoy a Natty Light?

You guys sound like my kind of people. I am really looking forward to the shoe. Just from seeing games on TV, I can tell it's insane. Columbus seems like it's a cool place as well. I'm making this game and Tulane my two road trips for the fall. Tulane because it's New Orleans and most likely a win, Ohio State because of the atmosphere. As far as the score is concerned, who knows what will happen. I don't expect a win, but I'd at least like for us to keep it close. Excited for the season as a whole with a new coach in Garrick McGee.

Once you cross the Kentucky state line, don't look back. You'll have the greatest gameday experience of all time. The Natty Light in the parking lot will taste better than anything any of us have ever tasted.

Wait.... Kyle's going to be there?

I've not seen the schedule yet, but if it's before the kids come back, the Shoe won't be a crazy atmosphere. Nothing against the crowd, just not as spirited as it can be.

Do, however, drink a lot during pregame activities!

Question: Isn't OSU going to the semester system? And if so won't the students be on campus earlier than the normal mid to late September????

I do...and it will be brutal. I know..haven't even seen the "New" offense yet..ok but I'm telling you this game isn't within 30 points. This I promise it's nothing against UAB at all. This has to do with the fact that there is no bowl game for us this year. Urban has talked about not being sure how to approach this season with no bowl game. What he comes back with will be knocking the crap out of everbody as bad as possible and making the AP go..WOW! There just isn't any other option for us. The chip on the shoulder will remain all season long.

Welcome to BP. For those who us who aren't too familiar with UAB's football program, can you provide a little info about the team and your outlook for them this year? Strengths, weaknesses, what brought about the coaching change, etc.

I know one thing--there were a lot of new UAB basketball fans in Columbus at Nationwide Arena a few years back when they knocked off Kentucky in the 8/9 - 1 2nd Round matchup.
