I have been wanting to start playing an onliine RPG game and a friend recommended Ultima Online. He has been playing it for awhile now and loves it. I was just wondering what anyone else thought of it (since he is kind of biased) and if it will be worth my time. Thanks.

Heh, UO is the only mmorpg that I play, and will ever play. It's very dated mind you, being almost 9 years old now. However it is still the only one that is different to me. Everquest, World of Warcraft, Anarchy Online, Shadowbane, etc, they are all exactly identical, and get boring within half hour. If you do decide to get into UO, check out uogamers.net. It's a completely free shard, and is very awesome, is old-school Ultima online, without all the new, retarded crap that OSI has added over the years.

I would say you are best to start out with a swordsman, go high on dexterity, as speed will save you from alot of heart ache. Just avoid magery until you're used to the game, because it's very hard to get used to. Drop me any questions here if you need to. If you do get on UOgamers.net, let me know, cause I can even meet you on there somewhere and hook you up with some stuff.

anyone ever play the old Ultima games? I had III, IV, and V on my old Apple IIe. those games were the best.
I played a few of these and thought they were great. I especially liked the one that had the hidden village where you could bribe the guards and then steal all of the gold. Cool games for their time.
