I haven't been following USA soccer much. What happened to Freddy Adu?

Doesn't score enough, doesn't set up his teammates enough with good balls, wants to beat a team by himself with his tricks 1 v 1. Doesn't start for his club team to my knowledge, either. He needed more time in MLS before going overseas, IMO.

What a game. Definetly a top 10 game in U.S. International Soccer history and one could make an argument for top 5. The U.S. knew the only way they were going to beat this team was by playing stellar defense and playing a physical game that they are not accustomed to. Onyewu and Howard tie for man of the match for their stellar play, IMO. Onyewu in particular played the game of his life on the back line.

To be totally realistic though, I think this game took a lot out of them physically and emotionally setting themselves up for their next game against Brazil (again). It's gonna suck not having Michael Bradley as well (that red card was not deserved).

No matter how the U.S. does though in that game, nothing will take away from this win, and that's the bottom line. Way to go Yanks!!!

Great game...

Sucks that Michael Bradley will miss the finals. IMO he has been one of the true young stars of this team and a major reason for our recent success.

On a terrible red card too.....

Can't be too disappointed though. Spain dominated possesion of time, shots on goal, and were the aggressors almost the entire match. I'll trade a bad call for this win any day of the week. Bradley definately gives the USA a nice lift from his position though. He's an agrressive defender, and actually seems like one of the few guys on the pitch who is confident enough to keep the ball on his foot in transition and turn it over at the first sign of pressure.

That was the biggest disappointment to me today. They won 2-0, but their ball control, in a single word, is awful. They won't be able to hang with the elite consistently, until they figure out how to control the ball against elite teams.

There, now I feel much better after pissing my$V-17 MIL stash down to basically nothing. I guess there is no such thing as a "lock" huh?

Anyeway, congrats to the USA on a great win. I guess I just have to start making $V-100 bets instead of $V-MIL bets.

Peace.

The replay is coming on ESPN2 at 11PM for those that missed it this afternoon.

Apparently it's also on ESPN360 - but you have to subscribe to a "partner" ISP for it to work. Those assholes actually suggested that I change my ISP so I could watch a web video.
