So it seems like Valve is coming out with a Steam Box, after showing the linux-based Steam-OS at TGS, finally bringing PC gaming to the living room. Unique controller design comes with it, called the trackpad. The word used to describe it is "haptic," which when I looked up, means "a tactile feedback technology which takes advantage of the sense of touch by applying forces, vibrations or motions to the user."

Valve unveils more on SteamOS/Steam Box in-home streaming. Install and process a game in one place, such as your water-cooled i7 SLI'd super-gaming-rig, and still play it on that crappy nine year old Celeron M laptop if you must (Provided your WiFi or wired LAN is up to snuff of course), or your Steam Box, or some other PC.

Also, Ninja Theory co-founder Tameem Antoniades (Heavenly Sword, DMC) thinks console makers are going the wrong direction and Valve (with Steam Boxes) will be the ones to get it right.

The old notion of $60, 15-hour blockbusters is worn, he warned.

“There’s no reason to stick with legacy forms,” he cautioned. “A 15 hour AAA game is a crushing development experience for the producer. It constrains creativity, there’s a lot of checkboxes to justify $60. I always said that I didn’t know why we didn’t go to the 100 hour movie – and we are now. Between Netflix and boxed sets, we watch series from start to finish in one sitting. Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones to me are long forms of old media. I would love, more than anything, to do a 2 hour AAA game and release it for a few dollars.

The Piixl Jetpack. A PC case that mounts behind (or passes through) the VESA mounts on a TV. Will be preconfigured as a Steam OS box, but can be reformatted to run any OS since it is otherwise a regular old Intel PC.
