If anyone wants some side action on that Milli bet I'm down.

I'll bet all my V cash that Ginn will take at least ONE snap at QB this year...who wants a piece of this?

When I get my 500 vCash back after Boeckman starts against Texas, it'll all go down on that bet. I keep telling yayhoos that the only reason why Ginn even took a snap last year was because the staff didn't want to burn Boeckman's red shirt in the bowl game after Zwick tweaked his hammy and Smith was on suspension. Keep dreamin'...

I think you're being a little foolish mili. I agree he'll never be a QB with any regularity, but for one play I would think he would line up at QB in the red zone once, especially if our starting QB (Boeckman/Zwick) isn't very mobile.

Saying it doesn't make much sense for Ginn to lineup at QB is one thing, but to say it will never happen at any point, to frighten the defense, is quite a bet.

If he takes the snap out of the shotgun (from the QB position, not a direct snap) and then runs with it, that means you lose the bet, right?

I'd say the odds are stacked against you.

One snap with him in the QB position is all it takes for me to lose the bet...he doesn't even have to run with it (he can hand it off or pass it). Even if the play in which he takes the snap as a QB gets penalized and then they don't snap to him again (thus making the QB snap play technically non-existent), I'll still pay up, because they called and ran the play.

I wouldn't be saying it if I weren't confident in it. IIRC, I've only be wrong on one board-public bet either back on Bustnuts or here, and that was the Gamble going in the first round bet with MistriBuck, and even then I was only four positions from winning (Gamble went 28th overall I think), and MistriBuck insisted Gamble would be 15th or better. Some of the bets folks made with me (and I won) were:

1. Zwick starting against Texas Tech as a true freshman (how stupid does that sound now?).

2. D'Andrea pushing Wilhelm out of the starting MLB position.

3. Fox being moved back to safety (every frickin' year).

4. McMullen starting over Krenzel in the Washington game (2003 opener for those who forgot).

I'm sure that if I'm missing a bet I lost, someone while remind me. I don't bet unless I'm really sure of it.

Whoopy dee do. As if your track record had any bearing on what will happen in a 2005 football game. Besides, those four bets were based on people touting one player as better than another.

That's not what this bet is. This bet is about Ginn EVER taking a snap at QB, in an undisclosed, revamped offense which apparently has a lot of creative ways to get him and holmes the ball.

That's why the bet is dumb on your part IMO.

Whoopy dee do to you, too. My "track record" was to show that I don't bet unless I'm real confident, not that I'm some mystic. And I'm totally aware of what the bet is about, seeing as I frickin' made it. :roll1:

There are more ways to get Ginn the ball than having him take the snap at QB. In fact, having him take a snap at QB is about the only way that he can't be either in motion or isolated one-on-one at the snap. And since he's the QB, by default everyone will be focused on him. Now, you tell me how that improves his chances of shaking free. Sure, he scored on that QB draw in the Alamo Bowl...you don't think defenses will be ready for that once he lines up at QB? Ginn at QB is no longer an element of surprise.

I think your stance much more accurately reflects the way OSU will approach the season... I just think that its much harder to be sure he will never take a snap at QB... versus much easier things to be sure about like Ginn playing CB, Fox to safety, etc.

I just think its a pretty easy bet for your opposition to win, as opposed to the others.

just to lighten the mood a little (since my intention was merely to challenge your bet but not start a big hullabaloo)

jax - I need to get busy and set up some more bets (help yourself as well SIMV) but I try to stay away from long term (season long) bets for the most part.

Your money is tied up from the time you place your bet until it is settled. This has frustrated many of the posters over here who put down everything they have every time a new bet comes along. It has happened more than once. To the same posters. Nice guys, but not too bright.

I know this is an old thread, but I found it, anyway.

I have some vbet ideas:

How many LLLosses will Michigan have this year?
To which bowl game (if any) will Michigan go this year?
Will Llloyd keep his job this year?

Ok.. I'm picking on Michigan a lot. Sorry. I also have a good idea for a poll:

Which current tOSU player has the best chance to win a Heisman?

I have some vbet ideas and suggestions.
1. How about a separate sub forum somewhere for vBets? I guess the bpBook kind of works that way, but it is something that could be considered.

2. More vBets on games, college and pro. We usually only have around 5 vBets a week on games, I would love to see more, if help is needed with this I would be glad to help out, just PM me and give me instructions on how to run it.
