vBet idea

Which one of the 12 teams will win Super Bowl XL? With a 12 team race the payoffs would be better than even money (except with the Colts). I expect to have some v$$$s to bet after the Fiesta Bowl.

A couple other vBet ideas:

1. It is kind of disappointing to for your team to win and you lose your vBet due to the point spread (i.e Ohio State vs Penn State (Friday) and Indiana (Saturday). It's too late for today; but for future bets, have you ever considered just betting for a team to win or lose with adjusted payoff odds (not necessarily 1:1) and no point spread per below?

2. I won't be home during the NFL draft; however, here are a couple ideas that you may want to consider:

a. The total number of Buckeyes taken in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft (I've seen mock drafts that list anywhere from 2 to 6 Buckeyes taken in the first round. Hawk and Holmes seem to be a lock; however, Youboty, Carpender, Whitner, and Mangold are real possibilities, too):

<HR style="COLOR: #888888" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Here is how it works.

1. Post your guess in this thread, then place a bet on the event.

2. All bets should be in the amount of $50.

3. This ain't the Price is Right, so your guess may not be within 50 of a previous bet. If it is I will make that person the winner if the actual total is within 50 of their wager - and I will keep your money.

For example. Say Grad21 guesses 64,500. BuckeyeNation27 (I am only using him as an example because the stupid SOB can't follow instructions) guesses 64,510 - only 10 more than Grad21. If the "official" attendance is 64,540 Grad21 wins because he effectively 'reserved' the range from 64,450 to 64,550 when he placed his wager. However, if the attendance is 64,555 Nation27 would get the win. (If this makes any sense let me know and I will try to make it even more convulted.)

4. The official attendance for this event will be what is reported in the Columbus Dispatch.

5. Once the official attendance it determined I will declare everyone a loser on the original bet (we ARE betting pretend money on how many folks will show up to watch a practice game on an otherwise perfectly useful Spring day - so delcaring everyone a loser isn't much of a stretch)

6. I will then set up a follow up bet paying odds based on the total wagered (unfotunately this is the only way we can do pari-mutuel betting using this software). Only the winner will be invited to bet on that event.

7. If you don't have $50, bet incorrectly before reading this post, or do something else stupid please don't bother to PM me. I'm just the vBooky - I didn't take you to raise.

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

2. More on the NFL draft (in addition to above) post dated 12 Mar 06, since I will be home for the draft after all. I had a transAtlantic cruise booked, and Princess cancelled it due to the fire on the ship (Star Princess). The ship is currently in Germany undergoing repairs. I know everyone on this board is really sorry my cruise was cancelled. Several mock drafts have up to 5 Ohio State players going in the late first round (with AJ going early in the first round), example FOX Sports (below):

<TABLE class=bgBdr cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=2 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR class=bgD><TD align=middle>6.</TD><TD align=middle>49ers</TD><TD align=middle>A.J. </TR><TR class=bgC><TD colSpan=8> Tight end Vernon Davis would make a lot of sense here as the team attempts to add weapons for young quarterback Alex Smith, but if Hawk makes it to the sixth pick, the 49ers would be wise to add to their defense first.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

(+1)</TD><TD align=middle>14th / NR</TD></TR><TR class=bgC><TD colSpan=8> A strong defense and the running of rookie Cadillac Williams receives much of the credit for the Bucs making the playoffs last year, but the resurrection of Joey Galloway was arguably the biggest factor. His 83 receptions for 1,287 yards and 10 touchdowns topped his numbers for the previous two seasons combined. It might be asking a bit much for the 34-year-old to repeat that production in 2006. Holmes would provide an immediate upgrade in the slot and would eventually take Galloway's place as the outside vertical threat.

You could have actual paramutual v-betting. All bets must be in multiples of $200 and the payout will be 100 Xs the actual payout at the track.

Note: Anyone not betting in a multiple of $200 will have their bet reduced to the next lowest multiple of $200 and the difference will be given to ScriptOhio.

The Preakness odds aren't out yet; however, here is a "prop vbet" idea to coincide with the a Preakness winner vbet:

Another vBet possibility:

I'm not a real All Star Game fan; however, there are probably others that may like to vBet on the game. Here are the odds that I found:

<TABLE class=spoftitleslip cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 align=center><TBODY><TR><TD align=middle width=10></TD><TD class=blackbig align=left>AL All Stars v NL All Stars </TD><TD class=black align=right>Jul 11, 2006 </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
<TABLE class=spofslip cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=1 align=center border=0><TBODY class=blacknews><TR><TD width="36%">AL All Stars To Win:</TD><TD noWrap align=right width="6%">1.7143</TD><TD width="3%"></TD><TD>

</TD><TD width="3%"></TD><TD width="36%">NL All Stars To Win:</TD><TD noWrap align=right width="6%">2.3</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
