Verizon & Android news

Has anyone (or does anyone know of someone) who made the jump to the HTC EVO with Sprint? I'm going month-to-month buying my time until Sprint store have it in stock again, but I'm probably making the leap - cheaper service and awesome phone.

Thoughts?

More videos of this impressive phone. That HDMI output is exactly what the movie industry needs imo. Buy HD movies to take with you, then plug it in to your big screen for home viewing.

I know one guy in Columbus with sprint and he likes it (for his Palm Pre). That's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject.

Two new droid phones coming out:
- Droid X - big phone, bigger screen than EVO, weaker processor than Incredible
- Droid 2 - keyboard looks mildly better but still not where it should be. Maybe someday HTC will make a touch pro 3 with android. The TP2 keyboard is outstanding.

Motorola Droid 2 Photos and Specs Leaked

-Android 2.1 (unless Verizon pumps out a last minute 2.2 update to it)
-3.7″ screen
-750MHz OMAP processor
-Wi-Fi tethering
-8GB internal
-8GB SD card preinstalled
-Updated keyboard
-5MP camera
-New version of Motoblur
-No HDMI port
-No front facing camera

The Droid X Is Going To Be One Gigantic Phone

Note: there are some who find the EVO to be too big, and this is even bigger.

I have a friend who just got it as well and he loves it. I think he moved up from your run of the mill slider type phone. Do you get a 30 day trial period with Sprint?

Good to know... I just got back in town, so I need to call the Sprint store tomorrow and see what the wait looks like. When I put my name on the list it was 2 weeks long and that was a week ago.

Yes, you do get a 30 day trial which is a great thing in my opinion.

I was able to order an EVO online from sprint last night, free shipping and no activation fee...

EVO is HEAVY and HUGE.......But has the best picture on a phone that ive ever seen

Thoughts after almost a week in with the Evo -

It is huge, but the weight doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would to be honest.

I was looking for a good combo device (i.e., iPOD, phone, PDA), and this is the best I've seen yet.

I'm not a heavy user, so the battery life for me has been fine. I can see where other might have an issue, but so far no problems.

The Android system is overwhelming - almost too much to process really. I've skimmed this thread for useful apps, but more guidance would be much appreciated.

Overall, I would highly recommend the phone if you can deal with the size.

battery life for me has been OK as well. I have used it pretty regulary, but not constantly, and its getting thru a full day with no problems.
Streaming over 2 hours of world cup action in the airport on Friday took the battery down to about 30%, which I figured it would
