Howdy all... First post for me on this board & newbie to the site. I've been a Buckeye all my life & hope this board is as fun as some of the others I've enjoyed over the years. GO BUCKS!
To the topic at hand tho:
In a year where the negative publicity coming outta ESPiN, SI, and other media outlets all more interested in peddling negative perceptions instead of "stupid" things like "facts", Tressel & his coaches/assistants have done a remarkable job with recruiting & staying the course. If the recent allegations did in fact effect any recruits decision, as seems to be the case with Bemoll, one has to consider what they will think when the NCAA clears OSU. I'm certain other coaches around the nation capitalized on the negative press in recruiting their kids away from OSU and toward their school. There's already been a few kids who've admitted to hearing from other coaches that they "don't want to go to OSU... they're facing sanctions." What will be interesting is if the NCAA clears OSU as expected, won't those coaches naturally lose some credibility with the kids they convinced? Trust could well be broken and the recruits may indeed start 2nd guessing their decisions & feeling a bit duped. Just some stuff to ponder...
As this is my first post on here, I figured I'd commemorate it Buckeye Style with some of the sweetest words ever penned:
Oh come let's sing Ohio's praise
And songs to Alma Mater raise
While our hearts rebounding thrill
With joy which death alone can still
Summer's heat or winter's cold
The seasons pass the years will roll
Time and change will surely (truly) show
How firm thy friendship ... OHIO!
These jolly days of priceless worth
By far the gladdest days on earth
Soon will pass and we not know
How dearly we love Ohio
We should strive to keep thy name
Of fair repute and spotless fame
So in college halls well grow
And love thee better ... OHIO! Though age may dim our mem'ry's store
We'll think of happy days of yore
True to friend and frank to foe
As sturdy sons of Ohio
If on seas of care we roll
Neath blackened sky or barren shoal
Thoughts of thee bid darkness go
Dear Alma Mater...OHIO!
