  • Googled the fuck out of this trying to find a solution, and it seems every response is "disable hardware acceleration" by checking the "Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering" checkbox under the Advanced tab and restarting the computer, which of course doesn't work. Has anyone else had this problem and happen to find a solution?

No problems with Vimeo on IE11 with Windows 8 here.

Try adding the site to compatibility mode, or hit F12 to open the developer console, on the left hand side scroll down the last icon (Emulation, Ctrl+8) and change the User Agent string to IE10 or earlier.

I first tried changing the User Agent string to IE10 and rebooted (which didn't work), and then added vimeo.com to compatibility mode and restarted the browser (which didn't work either) and ended up having Vimeo tell me "Your browser is out of date and may not support Vimeo's features". JFC, how can something so mundane as playing Vimeo clips in the "latest" browser on a brand new computer be such a fucking problem...

Hadn't watched a Vimeo clip for a while so I forgot about this annoyance, but today I tried to watch a clip posted on Gizmodo and, lo and behold, no fucking audio. Vimeo still lists the solution "disable hardware acceleration"...

Well, while trying to find out why IE11 decided to not allow me to right-click and copy images from web pages, I ended up inadvertently fixing the Vimeo audio problem. Under Internet options' "Advanced" tab, I clicked the Reset button, restarted the browser, and Voila.
