They sure left some notables out on some of the categories:

3) Favorite pro team?

I wouldn't have voted for them; however, don't they consider the Columbus Crew a professional team?

6) Best homegrown product?

I would have voted for Jerry Lucas.

8) Best in-state college or pro career?

I would have voted for Jack Nicklaus on his one.

9) Favorite personality or historical figure?

I would have voted for Bob Hope.

I had no idea that Paul Newman, Steven Spielberg, and Ted Turner were from Ohio.

Damn, all of my answers matched the top responses, except for "Best homegrown product" (I voted for Jesse Owens instead of Jack Nicklaus).

I really like LeBron, and I think he'll end up as one of the greatest players in NBA history....but how in the hell is he on this list for greatest in state college/pro careers? He didn't play in college, and has played 2 NBA seasons. 8.5 % of the people who took the poll voted for him. WTF?

When you click reply to thread, the tool bar at the top of your reply box has a blue globe with 2 chain-links under it. After you have copied your web address, click the blue globe icon, and then paste the url into the little box that opens up. Once it shows in your reply with the underlines, you can edit it to just say 'link' or whatever. And don't feel bad, I had to ask the same thing a couple of months ago.

I would have voted for Bob Hope.
They must have gone by birthplace for this, and Bob was born in England in 1903.

No clue and I was wondering the same thing. I think it's cause everyone from the toledo area is obsessed with the city of Detroit

Bingo.

I think what they were meaning was "favorite pro teams of fans in Ohio". But then again, they didn't list the Pistons, Lions, or Tigers, did they?

No they didn't. I honestly don't understand why the people in the Toledo area fall in love with Detroit so much. Is it because it is the closest big city? If Toledoans fell in love with everything close to them then they would all be scUM fans too, but most I know aren't. Is it because most pro-level ohio teams suck? possibly...I dunno

Its simple really.
Detroit = shithole.
Toledo = shithole.
Detroit = Shithole (even Hooshang could have come up with that!)
Using transitivity, if Detroit=shithole and Toledo=shithole, then Detroit=Toledo and that's definitely not the case...had to prove you wrong Strohs. Toledo isnt all that bad as long as you stay west side

Check the edit I made just before you posted that...
There are alot of scUM fans in Toledo, so it is in fact a shithole!

I think much of the Toledo controversy dates back to early Ohio/Michigan statehood and boundaries. I think I remember hearing in a history class (a long time ago, I'm afraid) where this a was a major dispute. Probably there's someone out there who really knows the facts.
