We don't give a damn for the WHOLE state.

Just in case anyone was getting soft on me.
This brings up a question I had with my brother. We couldn't come to a decision. One of my favorite mini-traditions is singing the fuck out of "We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan" during the ending of whatever game is before The Game. Bonus points for when you're on the road and still get it loud enough for the TV to pick up. However.....when the game before The Game is Michigan State, should that be sung during the ending of the game before Michigan State? Is it sacred and reserved for Michigan only? Don't sing it before MSU but sing it a little extra during the ending of MSU? I don't want to anger the CFB Gods.

Maybe I am off base but I’ve never seen/heard it reserved for the week before The Game.

Personally, I’m looking at this MSU schedule deal as a bonus week of hate week.

It’s the Whole state and it isn’t a part time thing.

It's certainly a great question to raise.

Usually it implies scUM and scUM only. Being that their trash can of a team is the flagship for the state, it is a natural fit.
However I think in this particular case, being that The Game falls immediately after Sparty, we aren't being discriminate here. It's Ohio vs that Whole damn state for the next 2 weeks.

So, yeah... We're singing it for scUM, AND sparty is getting this hate by proximity. Fuck em' all.

The CFB Gods will smile on this.

There is only one CFB god and we all know where he stands on the state up north.

Agreed. Anyone in that shit hole of a state that’s looking for respect out of me gets the Michael treatment.

In the past games I’ve been to (and I’ve been to a lot) it was sung after pretty much every victory I can remember. That is, until that let’s go Brandon bullshit after the Penn State game. Fuck that noise after s Buckeye victory.

That's how I recall it as well, those that I can recall and not being present for Brandon nonsense.

Oh....you get to sing it whenever. But I can distinctly remember hearing it at Maryland after a game as a means of ringing in what week it really was. The fans' focus was impeccable. The next game was The Game, and we were letting everybody know what mattered most. I was awe struck. A signal that it was time for the greatest rivalry in sport. And we were ready for them. I love that we as a fanbase can have concerns (or cOnCeRnS) about coaching or play calling or even of certain players.......we can have years where we lose early, years where we're undefeated, years where we drop an Iowa or Purdue.....but as the clock ticks down on the last game before The Game, all that goes away. We all know what week it is.

So my question was....should we have been singing that towards the end of Purdue, or are we saving all that type of hatred for those fuckers? Sounds like we get 2 weeks to sing it this year. Then, it's time for war.

EDIT

Ahh, I get what you meant.

This week can be a warm up since it's technically that state but the real festivities don't start until after MSU for me. Clock hits 0:00 against MSU and it's time for war win, lose or draw in my book.

Fuck the whole state of *ichigan and 2/3 of the Fucking Toledo Strip for good measure. 1/3 who root for those bastards in AA is a whore and the other 1/3 who worship false idols in South Bendover.

Fuck ‘em all. North to South, East to West and that fucking dolphin looking wart hanging off Wisconsin… and while we’re at it, fuck those rodents too.
