Pelini got himself fired at YSU too. It's not the fireing of Pelini that killed them it's the hires afterwards

Pelini's run to the NC game at YSU was remarkable. They entered the playoffs at 8-3, needed four playoff wins to reach the title game, but had nothing left for it.

That it was his first season at YSU (2016) basically doomed him. It raised expectations and he never got close to that again.
