Week 5 Games Discussion

It doesn’t matter how good your OL is when you have no passing game and a gaggle of mediocre RBs. Defenses can just pin their ears back and bull rush you. Seriously, wiscy is totally depleted at the skill positions. They used to take those 3* kids and make stars. It appears the well may have run dry…
There's no season-long trend there, though. 2 sacks given up to Penn State. 1 sack each given up to E Mich and ND, and then suddenly 6 given up to TTUN.
I'm just wondering if TTUN's defense is suddenly real. Only 1 sack on W Mich, 4 on Wash, 1 each on N Ill and Rutgers, then 6 on Wiscy.
Maybe it was just a fluke of matchups.

I mean that sounds exactly like the D under Don Brown till last year. Murder one dimensional undermanned teams

And that’s not me cheering any injuries, they were awful with Penix too
Penix seems like he’s regressed. Tom Allen has the IU D (ha ha) playing better than I can remember. They had an impressive goal line stand against PSU, stuffing them on 4th and goal from the 1 yd line. But I figured they’d at least get a score in the game. In recent years their offense had some potency.

I guess we'll find out when they play Sparty. It will be fun to watch the meltdown if they go into that game 7-0, or to Penn State at 9-0.

I think they're about as real as Don Browns defenses that were always ranked amongst the best in the country until they play somebody worth a damn. The new guy they got from the Ravens is blitz-mad, just like Brown was. So it is actually a little surprising how inconsistent the sack numbers have been. But really, they aren't that talented on D. They've just had the fortune of playing some really weak opposition so far. I mean, it's an improvement on last year when they were even losing to those teams, but I' still think they get wrecked once they face a real team. They are terrible in the secondary, so.those low sack numbers against a capable QB would find him feasting on their shit DBs, but they literally have not played on decent passing team in 5 weeks. Once they do, it'll get ugly.
