Weekly Bets to Consider

I wanted to try something different for the degenerate gamblers out there. I'd like to have a thread for games to consider placing a bet or parlay on.

So here is the format, place the game you are intrigued by, pick your side, and defend your choice.


Games I really Like
Indiana (-6) vs Ball State at Indy. I like Indiana for this game because of the new coach. He will bring a high powered offense and any coach entering his first game (and trying to convince a fanbase that they are relevant) will try to make in impression.

Games I am intrigued by but scared of the big spread
South Carolina (-20.5) vs. East Carolina at Carolina Panthers Stadium. I like SC because I believe Spurrier will try to run up the score just like most SEC teams. Lattimore and Jeffrey should have big days.

Arkansas State at Illinois (-20.5). I like Illinois to have a big day. This is a make or break year for Zook and he will try to make a good first impression by putting points on the board. Jason Ford should run through the Arky state DL and I really like the young QB for Illinois.

Eh, Spurrier has given Lattimore about 20 carries in preseason while trying to sort out number 2. One will have a big day but I see Lattimore coming out ASAP.

I placed a bet on 99% of the CFB vBets for the 2011-12 season. I tried to hit them all, but missed just a couple of them.

I ended up being -5 on the teams, and +23 on over/unders, winning 18 more bets than I lost for the season. That's not enough to cover the juice, since Vegas normally requires betting 110 on 'even odds' bets to win $100.

If I had wanted to bet real money, I would have only bet a few games each week, selecting the mathchups I liked, rather than placing a bet on every game.

The bowls were a disaster for me, I was +32 heading into bowl season, and went 29-43.

I have always been curious as to whether it is better to bet on the home team or the favorite if not the home team or is it better to go with the underdog. Just curious if there might be some statistics out there regarding this. Hope this makes sense

I just tracked my bets for wins and losses on covering the spread and on over/unders. I don't have the info as to how many times 'overs' won, or how many time the home team covered. I'm sure Vegas tracks that pretty closely.
