Well Lookie here. Who's desks were probably side by side?

I see the Tom Friend conspiracy theory is making its way around the
computers of the Buckeyes Crazies.

Tom and I actually knew each other before that, going back to my
internship at the Washington Post, in 1988.

So, what is more likely, that Ohio State cheated, or Tom and I cooked
up some plot beginning when we first met almost two decades ago.

Have a wonderful week.

And I agree that no one will take the fall for this.

I will stay in touch and you do the same.

somebody reply to this shitstain and ask him whats more likely, that OSU cheated or that an irresponsible "journalist" wrote a sensational story to get ratings basing his "facts" off a known liar and a punk with an axe to grind. then tell him hes a fucking shitstain.

i wouldnt reply anything directly quoted to the above email as it may compromise a source of information....

i think what aka was trying to show is that maybe we should just keep our yaps shut because he knows someone working this source.....and more information is forthcoming....this person obviously already knows that no heads are going to roll...

I sent him an e-mail and asked him to prove his accustion that Irizarry was charged with robbery prior to October 2003. I received 2 replies but don't know how to post them here. How would that be done ?

Mikey first indicated that he never worked with Tom.
I provide him with the information that he did have a working relationship with Tom at the Washington Post.
Note that now Mikey is recanting his statement that 'he never worked with Tom'. He now remembers the working relationship.
Mikey can't seem to get his stories straight the first time.

Below is his response:

As my first note stated, I never said I did not know Tom, I said I never worked with him.

He was a west coast stringer for the paper while I was in NY.

To be more accurate, and perhaps give your conspiracy theory more credence, I actually worked with Tom when I was an intern at the Washington Post, and he covered the Redskins. Then, we actually worked together, nearly 20 years ago, which I guess is enough time for us to hatch this plot against the Buckeyes.

Have a great day.

--Mike Freeman

Gosh Mike. You want to trash OSU and others but you seem to have credibility problems of your own.

If y'all are going to be writing to these guys (I won't do it), why don't you ask them why they don't go after Mr Such & Such? If there's one unequivocally bad actor in this drama, it's him. Why are they protecting him?

I have been very polite and professional. I have just been posing questions to him. Looking into his past. Kinda like he does to others.

Funny how it works when the shoe is on the other foot.

What is Tom Friends e-mail address?

tom.friend@espnmag.com

I think it should be noted that this joker is the same writer who took the indefensible position of defending Jeremy Shocky when Shocky called Bill Parcells a queer, a homo, and other nonsense. Friend wrote the four page diatribe defending Shocky's vocabulary and claiming that poor Jeremy was just misunderstood.

but it’s hard to see where Friend suddenly comes by all this civic loyalty. I knew him when we were both young sportswriters in Southern California, and the guy has worked more towns than Xaviera Hollander
It's been year's since I've seen a Xaviera Hollander reference. She was the woman that wrote "The Happy Hooker" in the '70s, which was made into a movie starring Lynn Redgrave.

So the guy was calling Friend a whore, which is a comparison that should work for most of us.

Yeah- I really don't care if you send e-mails to these jokers, but, I wouldn't quote any other e-mail that you see that's attributed from them.

Two reasons... First, while I have no doubt the messages on here are accurate, the one I has very little context, in that we don't know what the original message was... and I can also tell you that I edited some stuff out that 'seemed' like sort of personal trust between my friend and Freeman... I didn't want to violate that stuff, in the event that we would need info from him later.

On the other side of the coin, any e-mail you see might not be entirely accurate... I havent' been to BN, but I'm sure those jokers are getting messages back as well... and I'm sure its not beneath them to outright 'change' the responses... I didn't do that, and I'm sure Buckinghorse didn't either, but let's not get into a "Hey, man I saw another e-mail where you said this to some other guy" That's not going to get us anywhere. These guys, especially Friend, have stuck there foot in there mouth that you should have plenty of ammo without third hand information.

If anyone wants to see the original e-mail, send me a message.

Our conversations have been responses from the original. I had to edit out my questions as it has my name, my company name and other private info.
But I am willing to share it if you message me.
I also received a message back from the desk of the Senior Vice President of ESPN. I thought that was cool. Just states that they thoroughly investigated prior to printing. Yea yea right.
