What Bowl Game Do You Want?

i want what meyer wants.

I want whatever it takes to get the NCAA off our ass. If that means a bowl ban this year and the whole thing is behind us. So be it.

If that means a bowl ban next season (which wouldn't make any sense), and eligibility in this years bowls, the I'm content with that too, I suppose.

Banning our 6-6 team from the Pizza Bowl isn't likely to change anything with the NCAA. I would find that "ban" laughable as some sort of punishment if I was the NCAA. Playing in the Pizza Bowl is more of a punishment for Ohio State. :wink2:

I hate that I'm agreeing with Thump, but I am. Signs of the apocalypse, etc.

This has nothing to do with OSU- They deserve another opportunity.

My opinion is that there are too damn many bowls, and that they've become like "participant" ribbons at "We don't keep score" soccer leagues.

Teams that are .500 (or under, see UCLA) shouldn't be in "prestigious" post season events. Teams that don't make that mark and don't have winning records in their conference are even further from needing to be there.

Particularly when the only people who profit (as in money) from this are the BS bowl commissions (tax exempt, some also funded by tax dollars) and the networks (particularly since ESPN owns at least seven bowl games themselves).

So, no... a team with Ohio State's record should not be "bowling".

Now that I've done my [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N2E93VzQSA"]grumpy old man[/ame]... since it's the reality we live in, I'm all for any of these options. Kicking Ohio's ass again would be really sweet- particularly since it would cause Brady Hoke to have an aneurysm trying to figure out the scoreboard.

none. just self impose a ban and make sure 2012 starts clean

If Ohio State gets a 1 year bowl ban, let's do it this year.

If Ohio State doesn't get a bowl ban then they should go. The bowl organizations are what they are (i.e. probably more than there should be but there is nothing we can do to change that). We aren't going back to the days where there were 1/3 as many bowls, etc. Keep in mind that the all the money coming into the
th_B1G.jpg
from the bowls (as well as the BTN) make the
th_B1G.jpg
the envy of all the other BCS conferences. With the help of this income Ohio State's entire athletic department is self sufficient (i.e. no tax dollars needed). We owe it to the coaches, players, students, fans, alumni, and the
th_B1G.jpg
(who negociated the bowl tie in deals). And probably yes, we owe it to the bowl sponsers too. We are a PROUD member of the

, want to eagerly accept the best bowl offered, and represent the

and :osu: with pride.

What if we decide not to bowl this season and the NCAA bans us next season anyway? It's a lose-lose, we don't know what the NCAA is going to slap us with. If they give us a choice, obviously this is the season to do it. Otherwise, we may as well get the extra practices and hopefully a 7-6 record. I'd like to play Florida at the Gator bowl, personally. Beat another SEC team.

As for 6-6 teams going to bowl games, who gives a shit? More bowl games = more College Football for me to watch this Holiday Season.

A young team needs all the practice that it can get....take the bowl and build for tomorrow...

Bingo. Plus the fact if we turn down a bowl we'll look:

1. Scared
2. Arrogant
3. Both of the above

Take a bowl game and get the extra pratices and a little more exposure.

Oh yeah????? I bet we figure out how to get first downs by then....

And we might beat you 4-2.

I want us to self impose a ban. The way I see it is the worst case scenario is we get a 1 year ban and I'd rather take the hit this year than next. And as much as I'd love to get payback against the gators I'd rather take the hit now than risk it next year if the NCAA hands out our punishments late. However if they hand it out before bowls are announced and there's no ban then fuck it lets go.
