What happens in 05 if.....

Well i dont think we have to be worried about computer rankings because if we do beat 3 Top 10 teams we would get some serious quality wins/strength of schedule points or whatever the hell the BCS will call it. Im pretty convinced, unless everyone we play starts to really suck, that we can control our own destiny by going undefeated to get the the National Championship. And if not, then i say we all go riot.

I think when we go undefeated and the rest of the big ten can pull their own against non-conference foes we will be just fine all sipping cocktails at my tailgate at the Rose Bowl. The computers are kind to tOSU unless the programmer is a shareholder in ESPN or a SEC or BIG 12 grad.

On a day when the only thing to watch is either basketball (go bucks!) or infomercials it is refreshing to be able to belly up to the computer and talk football.

Man I love the internet!

Go Bucks

Multiple undefeated teams is uncommon. 2004 was an anomaly, especially with the proliferation of league championship games. It is more likely that there will be zero or one undefeated teams and multiple one loss teams jockeying for the #2 spot.

If the Rose Bowl has a chance for a Big 10 v. Pac 10 matchup, especially for the Nat'l Title - they will find a way to get those 2 teams into the game.

When does the 4 + 1 stuff start?

Given the 3 teams, only 1 wins ugly (any guesses) and would be considered "not as good".

Luckily (or not, depending on your views), the SEC has the title game nonsense to add another tough game to TN's season.

The Rose Bowl would probably threaten to leave the BCS format if they had to field an SEC team versus a PAc-10 team when the Big Ten champ was on the outside looking in. However, as part of their agreement I think they would be locked in with whomever the BCS "picked."

I don't think the 4+1 format will exists as you think it would be intended. I think at this point, the additional game would be used as an opportunity for non-BCS conferences to be represented on the national stage in a BCS game. To me it just dilutes the product in the end and does nothing good for college football (at least from a fan's perspective).

Hopefully our offense will look better next year with Ted Ginn getting plenty of touches and we will lose that "winning ugly" monicker.

I realize it will be tough for all three of these teams to go undefeated, no doubt about that. I just thought it was an interesting hypothetical question. In my mind if theses three go undefeated, we will be on the outside looking in. It would be hard to argue against any of the three temas and it would just add to the continuing legacy of BCS failure, hopefully resulting in a playoff system in the near future.
