What kind of car do you drive?

Makes for lower (<5k miles/yr) insurance rates...my wife is opposite, loves to drive, but doesn't complain when I make her a "Passenger Princess" on longer trips. Shared driving with her to AZ and back, and she was happy. Daughter as well, as I had her sit shotgun, with me in back, and they chattered on all day. Besides, I trust my wife's driving, but just not the other driver.
my wife is the type that if she unexpectedly arrives at a four way crash she'll sit there and cry until someone tells her she can go

I imported a car from overseas during covid. It was either going to be a very stupid decision or brilliant.
Has turned out well.
May get another one... Im thinking a Hilux or Hiace that will sit outside.

For 11k, getting a 2owner then-27yr old Toyota with 50k original miles and all the records... destroys the absurd used market out here.
That's all before talking about the performance aspect.
No stealership either.
I had to fix a ground loop on a door speaker. And i didn't like the wheels (they went too big and too wide with the tire stretch imo). Other than that, just been oil changes.
Will probably rebuild the turbos before 100k. And debating getting an aftermarket ECU to remove the limiter.

Just a quick heads up to whoever is selling hybrid CRVs to the blue hair hippies to replace their gen 1 priuii. (I dunno what pruis plural is)

They think they are driving an F-450. They can't handle it. Please stop. It's a fucking menace

Thanks in advance.

We in the SuperGT community have decided that Priuii is correct. Also Lexuii.

Tesla batteries have improved since then.

They haven't. Same chemistry hasn't changed - Panasonic PF.
The only thing they have changed so far is the packaging size of individual cells. This allows them to get higher energy density by wasting less volume on overhead -- casing, anode, cathode, etc.

Tesla did announce last year that they are looking at a new chemistry but it hasn't happened. And judging by Pana building new production facilities, im skeptical.
Elon likes to say a lot and under delivers: "Full Self Driving".
Or "we found 10% more range in batteries" (aka removed the safety buffers near true 0% and 100%)... and within a month there's spontaneous combustion battery fires in China and CA before the OTA got rolled back.

Panasonic has produced and/or acquired (see:Sanyo) better chemistry in this time frame, but it has not been sold to Tesla.

They can’t tow worth a crap!

Yes, the F150 Lightning is really, really impressive if you want to drive over parking stops in a parking lot and not actually do any truck stuff. The range immediately goes to shit if you’re towing or hauling heavy things.

I remain hesitant to put my family into a vehicle built on a bed of highly combustible batteries.

And I’ll never own a vehicle that can be bricked/disabled from an Internet uplink.

Shit, I won’t own a refrigerator, doorbell, or thermostat connected to the Internet.

This is all very sensible.

It's frightening enough that they can turn off your water, gas and electricity, screw having your car hooked up to external control

My analogy for battery-powered cars is comparing that to moving into my new work building this year that was "on time" and under budget.

Heat rarely works, PA system is non-functioning in parts of the building.

Toilets and sinks leak, constant buzzing over PA system. Football field was not ready for the season and there are no signs anywhere around our building or directions indicating where it is.
