What Will be the Positions of Need in 2005?

  • With the limited scholarships that we have for next year OSU will have the ability to be very selective in who they offer. That also means that they will want to make sure they bring in the right players to fill areas of need.

We already have a couple of kids coming and have made a couple of other offers. What does everyone see as areas of need to grab for this class? The other question I have is will JT begin to bring in less when he has more scholarships to offer (e.g. like this year) to try to even up the number of schollies to give per year?

I would like to see the following in the next class:

    1 - QB
    2 - WR
    2 - RB
    3 - OL
    3 - DL
    2 - LB
    2 - DB

    All assuming 15 scholarships.....

Jt has been quoted as saying he'd like to even out the classes so he could bring in about 20 kids every year. That said if we could have landed Jarrett, Rhyan Anderson and James Bryant this year he would have taken them and worried about evening out the classes later.

I agree with your breakdown on who we need to go after next year. The two big question marks in my mind are the O-line and RB and to a lesser degree QB. After Mangold, Sims and Kne we are going to be awfully young up front and if guys like Ben Person and Kyle Mitchum have to play early next year that won't be a positive sign, as good as they may be. Can't wait to see what Haw and Pittman can do and the QB battle will be fun to watch.

your breakdown sounds reasonable to me- but I bet we figure out a way to take more than 15

I agree that OL and RB continue to be top priority- hopefully Haw and Pittman shine and things won't seem so dire at RB but there is no doubt we still need to find a few more stud Olineman
