You kids stay off my lawn!
I noticed Folanator's post about the Dec 17 Big 10 Marathon. That fills in a space on my screen until the NFL kicks off on Saturday.

I hate the way the end of the college season wraps up in a flury of big rivalry games, leaves you hanging for a month and then spits out all the big bowl games in 48 hours.

Especially now that networks can tailor a market to meet the needs of any product they want to push, I'm surprised at what isn't on TV.

I go to ESPN and all if find are NFL highlight films, NBA basketball (How they make money on that stuff is beyond me. The only people I know who watch it are the same kids who watch WWF) and college hoops. (and even though the Bucks are 6 - 0, I can't really get into B-Ball until late January.)

Is there someone on the net who knows more about TV programing and can answer some questions I have?

Like, why don't we see more full broadcast replays of college and NFL games? I'm tired of Ed Sabol's Gone With the Wind Superbowl highlight films. I'd like to see the real thing from start to finish. Ooopps, that's right, there's only a handful of decent Superbowl games to re-play... so OK pick out some other classic games from the regular season or the playoffs.

The talk shows suck. Someone gets on and says something rediculous like, "USC will win because Vince Young can't take a hit," or "Notre Dame should be in the Rose Bowl," or "All Michael Vick can do is scramble and throw the dink pass," and then the other three scream at each other for five minutes, a bell goes off and number 1 either says something even stupider than his opening line or they go to a commercial. Is there something out there in the planning stages that will replace this format?

You forgot the reruns of the Worlds Strongest Man competition!

ESPiN Classic shows games but on Michigan weekend before the game I was hoping to see some great old games and they showed an old Trojan Vs Dommers game. ESPiN sucks!

My solution, record every Bucks game. Watching the Bucks beat Minn or scUm has got to be better than anything anyone else has on. Except when "Buckeye Classics" are on!

followed by the women's eight ball pool championships, bass fishing highlights and drag racing... see what I mean? How about the All Irish Hurling Championship followed by more ice skating?

The 2019 version is played tomorrow.

The Lowdown

Finalists: Kilkenny v Tipperary

Date: 18 August 2019

Venue: Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland

Throw-in: 3.30 pm (here in Ireland)

TV Channel: RTE 2/Sky Sports Arena

Kilkenny and Tipperary games are always of the highest standard and have produced some of the best All-Ireland hurling finals in recent years. It was Tipperary who ruthlessly stopped Kilkenny from winning five in a row in 2010, before The Cats got their revenge and resumed their place on the throne a year later.

In 2014, when everyone thought the Kilkenny hurling machine was out of oil, they defeated Tipp in a replay after two thrilling games on their way to winning their 35th and 36th All-Ireland titles (2015). The Premier County got their revenge in the 2016 All-Ireland final between the two.

This will be the 21st time the teams have met in Championship action. Surprisingly, it is Tipperary who lead with 11 victories to Kilkenny’s 8, with one draw coming in the 2014 decider.

Both sides lost their provincial finals (Tipperary to Limerick and Kilkenny to Wexford) but regrouped to make their way to the final. Kilkenny knocked out the holders Limerick in a viciously competitive semi-final on their way to the decider, while Tipp defeated Laois and Leinster champions Wexford en route.

This is sure to be an epic game between two of the top hurling teams in the country. While Tipperary have been in incredible form this year, Kilkenny will look to add to their haul of 36 titles after a resurgent season and a return to their status as the standard-bearers of hurling.

Just sayin': If you can get it in your area, it might be worth watching.
