When will Ken Griffey, Junior hit his 600th regular season home run?

He currently has 597.

Note - the earliest timeframe in which he hits it will be the only payout. :wink2:

CINCINNATI - Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 599th career homer Saturday, leaving him one shy of a seldom-reached mark, and Jay Bruce extended his amazing weeklong debut with a 10th-inning homer that lifted the Cincinnati Reds to an 8-7 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Bruce's first big league homer off Manny Acosta (3-2) dealt another crushing road defeat to the Braves, who couldn't hold a one-run lead heading into the ninth.

Griffey was on deck when Bruce connected for the game-winning solo shot. The 21-year-old rookie rounded the bases, flipped his helmet into the air halfway to home, then got pummeled by teammates when he hopped on the plate.

Contd...

This is a great story. With all the negative press with steriods in baseball today you have NEVER heard Griffey in that conversation. Griffey is what is great about this wonderful game.

I agree 100%, the announcers talked about that issue when Griffey came to bat yesterday all game.

Thats great! At least someone has said that publicly. He needs to be recognized for his stellar paly and his moral intergrity.

I wish I could have seen the game and hopefully I can see him hit his 600th. But we don't get to see many Reds games down here in Austin. :tongue2:

When you look at the 600+ list and see only 5 names, 3 of which are legit it really puts it into perspective what an accomplishment it is.

Bonds 762*
Aaron 755
Ruth 714
Mays 660
Sosa 609*
Jr 599 and counting

Also look at JR's career stats this way:

HR: Top 5 all time
RBI: Top 20 all time
Xtra Base Hits: Top 15 all time
Hits: 2,600 +

Add to that the defensive CF he played as a younger player and you are talking about one of the top 5 outfielders to ever play the game of baseball.

MY all time MLB outfield is always Aaron in LF, Ruth in RF and Mays in CF. Jr is the 4th OFer imo. (Jay Bruce is 5th :wink2:)
