Which Personal Finance Software?

  • I have a trial version of both Microsoft's Money 2009 and Quicken 09. Money seems a little cumbersome and Quicken more intuitive.

Does anyone on here use either one or can recommend any other personal banking software?

After reading up on it more today, I decided to go ahead and sign up for Mint. I really like it so far - it sure beats the convoluted method I've been using for my budgeting.

I was satisfied with the security measures that were explained. They pretty much use the same standards, technologies and partners as many major banks do.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this work out over the next couple months.

just signed up with Mint - pretty cool!

every purchase i make with my debit card shows up as "Master Money Purchase - name of the store" - sparkle market (small shitty grocery store) - shows up as "master money purchase - Cornersburg Sparkle" - mint classified this as spa/massage - small little humorous things like that

I've never really needed to use this stuff before, but I have become interested lately. Mint looks interesting in that it can automatically download info from your online accounts, but I feel similarly uneasy about that. Do any of the home use software products do the same thing (with regards to automatically syncing everything)?

One thing I think we need to realize is this: If we are scared of putting our financial information out on the web, we are too late. Once the banks went on line and made it possible to get your info that way, it was out there.

I han't realized that before. But, like it or not, our stuff is out there, whether we access it or not. The security in place has worked so far, so what can you do :ohwell:
