Kentucky talk shadows Final Four
by The Associated Press

ATLANTA - Florida coach Billy Donovan's future is the subject of intense speculation at this yer's Final Four, a topic as interesting to many basketball fans as the UCLA-Florida semifinal tonight that's a rematch of Florida's win in the final last year. The other game tonight will pit Georgetown against Ohio State.

For the record, Donovan used Friday's interview session to once again deny he's thinking about any of it.

Donovan said ``The minute I get on the road, I give my phone to my secretary. I've talked to nobody. All I've done, to be honest with you, is I got a lot of bloodshot eyes right now from watching a lot of tape. That's all I do.''

No one can deny he's the hottest commodity in the business right now.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky's restless two weeks is over. The Wildcats have a new coach in Billy Gillispie, who will try to restore some of the luster to college basketball's winningest school.
Gillispie was hired as Kentucky's sixth coach in the last 76 years on Friday, a person familiar with the search process told The Associated Press. The former Texas A&M coach will replace Tubby Smith, who spent a decade in the glare of the sport's brightest spotlight before bolting to Minnesota. Gillispie, who led the Aggies to the NCAA tournament's round of 16 this year for the first time since 1980, was to be introduced at an afternoon pep rally at Memorial Coliseum followed by a news conference, said the person familiar with the search, speaking on condition of anonymity pending an official announcement.

Looks like I can pay this off after the press conference this afternoon.

FYI, I was aware that Gillispie had signed the extension at aTm when I established his odds at 4-1. I didn't think that would be relevant if he got offered the job in Lexington.

I think he was their best option after Donovan.

I picked one Billy so that should comfort two. Anyhow, Donovan is being hired as an unpaid consultant because he does not want his name associated with Kentucky:biggrin:
