Who will win the NCAA Tournament?

In my bracket, Florida makes it to the Final Four, losing to Kansas. I think North Carolina loses to Texas in the Sweet 16, and I'm going with the fairly trendy pick of Texas A&M beating OSU in the Elite Eight.

Reasoning: I think relying on too many freshmen is going to catch up to OSU. I also think Oden will be the victim of Hack-a-Shaq tactics and the Elite Eight is when that'll catch up to OSU. As for UNC, it's possible they're the most talented team on offense in the whole thing, but they break down on defense too much, and Durant's the guy to take advantage. And UNC is another team without much upperclass leadership.

Watch out for Louisville in Lexington against aTm...

I have about the same thing as far as NC and Fla go. I also agree on the inexperience theme. My Final two are Geo beating OSU and losing to Kan

If that happens, then it's OSU in the Final Four, because no way does an undisciplined team like Louisville beat OSU. Or Memphis. Ultimately I think that "home-court" thing for Louisville is overrated. They jack up threes like it's their job and don't hit many of them.

Yeah but they have a ton of talent and you can't discredit playing that close to home...

Also if they are hot they will be tought to beat, b/c they have great size down low...

Honest question:

Do you feel they can match up with GTown?

When I did my tournament predictions I tried to do them with my head not my heart. In those predictions I had the Cougs losing to Georgetown. Now with that mundane "what I think will happen", as a Coug alumnus I am watching the best Cougar basketball season since 1941. If I can't emotionally and insensably cheer for them now when can I? Without being too much of a homer, I do believe that this years team does have the capability of beating anyone in the tournament. Whether they do so is obviously another question. Is it possible for a #3 seed to win it all? Certainly it is, Florida did it last year!
If you look at raw athletic talent probably half, or more, of the tournament teams have more talent than WSU. What keeps the Cougs in the hunt and what has been crucial to them winning 25 games thus far, is that Coach Bennett is able to get much more out of them than anyone dreamed possible. The players believe in Bennett and his system and they have been on such a roll this season that nearly anything seems possible. Perhaps they can bring a 2nd basketball National Title to WSU!

(The first was the 1917 team, voted #1 by some group of sports "experts" who picked each years national champions prior to the advent of the post season tournaments. WSU was given the honor for the '17 team in the 1930's. It's a dubious honor I know but I will take it!)

here is the link to the '17 "Championship"

GO COUGS!

The above is why I have a Virginia bracket that has Xavier inexplicably beating OSU in the second round and Louisville using the aforementioned home-court to knock off aTm, thus opening the door for a run to the championship for the 'Hoos, who knock off the overrated Wisconsin Badgers in the final game

Understandably, that is not the bracket I enter in the money pools.

Good stuff, I myself also have GTown beating Wazzou...They are such a tough team to matchup against...

can't see Loiusville beating A and M. A and M beat texas I believe and if they can defense Texas they sure can defense Loius.

You can't do the parallel things when it comes to the tourney like that...Yes aTm is a very good team, with the player who I think is the best the country in terms of value to his team, but Louisville has all the pieces needed if they play well, and are very athletic team. Couple this with their coach and location of game and I think you have to give Louisville a pretty good chance of winning...

Yeah but it is a totall different defense against Texas who only really has 2 scorers with other guys that chip in at times with James and Abrahams, but arent there on a consistent basis night in night out...

Louisville has a lineup of guys that can score and it is going to be more about team defense other than key on one guys and don't help off another...

My first thought before the brackets came out was that OSU's inexperience might catch up to them. But after watching the B10 final and seeing the brackets, I do not think anybody in the South can match up with them. Once they reach the Sweet 16, Greg will not let them lose before the Final 4. The team I fear the most matchup-wise is Georgetown. If OSU meets them in the Final Four that will be a tough one to pull out. I like one of three to win it -- OSU, Georgetown, or UCLA. I think Fla will lose at some point and I would not be surprised at all to see Michigan St. beat North Carolina in the second round. Do not underestimate a good tom Izzo team in the tourney.

ucla, kansas, florida, north carolina, georgetown, and ohio state all are so much better than the teams in last year's final four, save florida. last year was an anomaly. the 2005 tournament also had a number of teams that were far better than the so-called elite teams from 2006. illinois, unc, arizona, and michigan state all were better than three of last year's final four teams.
