Whoa. F/A-18 Fighter Jet Buzzes Detroit Apartment Building

Climb to Glory
This weekend's APBA Gold Cup speedboat race in Detroit may have been exciting, but it was slightly overshadowed, both literally and figuratively, by the orifice-exploding sight of a freaking F/A-18 Hornet buzzing downtown. Normally, jets aren't allowed to fly so low. In Detroit, however, there's no real risk of it hitting a populated area.

I got to see the Thunderbirds practicing for the Chicago air and water show one time from the roof of my building. We were a block off the water in a 30 story building. They were making huge circles south of the sears tower out over the water and then looping back over lincoln park and repeating. When they were coming off the water it literally looked like they were going to crash into our building then they would pull back on the stick and shoot over the top of the buildings. I loved every minute of it.

That is some photograph, BTW.

That was some timing, given the foliage almost in the way. The one thing that adds some credibility to the shot are the dust spots (the fuzzy circles) sprinkled throughout the image.
