You realize the game was played on a Saturday night, right? Some people have lives.

Predictable as snow in January. :roll1:

Your life doesn't seem to get in the way when things are going the Badgers way, so save the lame retorts for Bucknuts.

I'm here immediately after most losses between the two teams.

I guess I closed the tab before sending this reply:

Yes you were called out and that led to this particular exchange. It's going to happen, particularly when you have a history of spirited conversations on this board (that's not a problem in and of itself, but it's going to be met with blowback when OSU wins).

I'm not even sure what could be twisted into being labeled as an excuse in that post outside of pointing out the fact that Leuer was sidelined, which obviously would have an effect on the outcome.
I'm not sure what you're definition of an excuse is, but it appears to be a strange one.
By the same token, it was pointed out repeatedly in the previous game thread that Turner's absence would be a factor, which I didn't dispute, because it obviously was. How much is unknown until the future, potentially. These are reasons as to why something occurs.
An excuse is usually an accurate one, or it would be a lie.

After a loss, things are labeled as 'excuses' because of emotion & tone more than accuracy.
Evan Turner was a beast....but we already knew that. I guess a surprise was how nonchalantly dominant he looked on some of those turnaround jumpers. Kind of like Jon Leuer does/did. Speaking of whom, I can't feel bad about a 9-point loss without him
When the compliment is paired with an excuse, the former loses most if not all of its value. It goes without saying that Leuer was hurt and a big factor.
Excuse is an overused term by dumb people. "I can't really dispute what you say, but I want to, so......you're just making excuses".
And things like this are a big reason why you get the reactions you do, but I think you know that, despite the following:

I can see why some rival poster(s) have developed a kiss ass persona in order to survive here. I really enjoy the discussions and different perspectives from most of the Buckeye posters here, and I think the feeling is mutual, but there is a homer faction that just wants to hear what they want to hear, who kind of ruin it. OK, if you want to have an isolated board with no outsiders for discussion and edification, enjoy. I personally don't think that type of board would have as much enjoyment potential, though.
Now we get a martyr act thrown in :roll2:

HailtoMichigan argued the impossible all offseason. methomps has vociferously defended USC for years. goblue15 makes no apologies for his posts. Gatorubet argues till the cows come home.

Sounds like an overused excuse to me.

We want to have a discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of our teams. Basketball talk.

When there's a pattern of:

  • 'wisconsin gave it away'
  • compliments are made with excuses built in (particularly ones that don't even need to be pointed out),
  • why we're not as smart as you
it rubs people the wrong way for obvious reasons.

It's not because you're biased towards Wisconsin. It's because of the way many of your posts come across.

We have enormous threads discussing football with texas fans, few of which did anything resembling kissing up.

I don't see anything in Bernini's posts that crosses any lines. B, you're welcome here in my view. Especially after Bucky loses to the Buckeyes; we'd love to have you here frequently under those circumstances!

Kind of like Jon Leuer does/did. Speaking of whom, I can't feel bad about a 9-point loss without him. That's around what I expected. I don't recall expressing confidence about a Badgers' team that starts Tim Jarmusz at power forward. I said this wasn't a Big Ten Championship caliber team once he went down. A non Big Ten Championship team doesn't win against a good team like the Buckeyes on the road. As long as they didn't get embarrassed, then I'm fine with it. By the same token, the Buckeyes shouldn't have been expected to win in Madison w/out Turner, although the manner in which they lost may have been discouraging.

Turner is on the short list for national player of the year. Leuer wasn't even the leading scorer on his team when he went down with an injury.

Your failed analogy aside, Turner only played 26 minutes in Saturday's game. One wonders the extent of the blowout had he played a full game.
