Woody Hayes: If you're a M*ch*gan fan...you'll be home for the holidays.

HINYG8

You never come back from Copperhead Road
Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach.

Because we couldn't go for three.

Without winners, there wouldn't even be civilization.

The height of human desire is what wins, whether it's on the Normandy Beach, or in Ohio Stadium.

The team that makes the least mistakes wins.

The five big mistakes in football are the fumble, the interception, the penalty, the badly called play, the blocked punt - and most of these originate with the quarterback. Find a mistake-proof quarterback and you have this game won.

Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.

I will pound you and pound you until you quit.

The team that hits the hardest and the longest. The team that starts the fastest. And the team that is too damn smart to make mistakes.

Paralyze resistance with persistence.

I could beat Jesse Owens in a 100 yard dash if you gave me enough of a head start

I love football. I think it is the most wonderful game in the world and I despise to lose.

In a week where the pressure is to get style points rather than a question of getting the win..I think it is good to remember what's at stake. This is THE GAME. Every one of them is special, even when we are lucky enough to win easily..hell some of those are the most special, and it is appropriate to pause and remember who built this stage and why we do this like we do.

Woody.

Every win over that team up north is a tribute to the man who taught us to pay it forward and reminded us that you win with people. It doesn't matter how good we are, how bad TSUN is...the fact is..for me this one is always at least in part for Woody. Of course there are myriad reasons why we need to kick their ass, but this is the one week each year where Woody is woven particularly close to the surface of the fabric that is OSU football. It's hard to not think of this game without an image of him flashing to mind and a quote or two coming to our lips.

He told us we can't pay it back..and he's right. The gift he has provided for us is too immense to ever repay. And of course he is no longer with us to thank. But this is the one time I don't heed his words...because I see every win in THE GAME as a way for all things Buckeye to pay back the memory of the man who created this circus.

So to hell with the concerns of a close game. To hell with what SHOULD happen...instead...let's step right on them and mean it. Let's relegate the punting and kicking game to extra points...right up to the final whistle. Let's see JT comfortable and healthy in the 4Q, cheering for Cardale as he scores two more TDs to put this one in the all time awesome show of force column.

Let's hang 60 and call our debt to Woody a little closer to even.
