World Cup - England vs USA (Sat 2:30 ET, ABC)

I'll begin by saying I want to beat the shit out of the Three Lions and shock the soccer world...no doubt I am rooting strongly for that, however...

a draw would be great.

I don't have any affect on the team, so to be honest, I'd be happy to just keep the goal differential to -2. Luckily our boys seem to love this underdog role and they do have the ability to win.

Hercules Gomez gets a goal in this one.

No doubt England will be harassing Buddle all day long and focing Landon to stay wide. I think Hercules can sneak into the lane and get a goal for the good guys on Saturday. The additions of Buddle and Gomez were a bit controversial at first but are now showing real signs of promise. Altidore must be healthy and Onyewu has to be totally fit for us to stay in this game. Guch has had little time to get back to health so I hope hes going to be tip top this week.

I'm totally stoked for this match. Going to be sitting around my "mates" back porch here in Phoenix with some other fans drinking the hell out of a keg and getting rowdy no doubt! A draw wouldnt piss me off at all but would most likely be worse in the next round looking ahead towards our placement in the next round.

Serious question, why do American football fans get so insecure when fellow Americans express their love for the original football (American football was created as a nationalistic project to build American unity and to separate from their British heritage)?

I have several bulldog buddies that look at me with upturned eyebrows when I tell them I am excited.

I think it's encouraging to see how far the US has come in 30-40 years in the sport and exciting to see our players do well on a international level.

But I'm really in it for the spite - the vast majority of the rest of the world holds some degree of contempt for America and celebrates in besting us in any way possible. I'd like nothing more than for us to take "The World's Game" and reach heights of sustained success. In summary - take their game and shove it directly up their asses.

Source: Beckham scouts out U.S. weakness

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – David Beckham has told his England colleagues they have a golden opportunity to capitalize on the United States' nerves in Saturday's much-anticipated World Cup showdown.

Beckham, ruled out of the tournament with an Achilles injury, was recruited as an assistant by the England camp and scouted the USA's exhibition game against Australia last Saturday. In his report to England head coach Fabio Capello, he told him the Americans must not be allowed to settle into their rhythm in the early stages of Saturday's game in Rustenburg.

"David believes the USA is susceptible early on, even though they scored in the first few minutes against Australia," a source close to Beckham said. "He wants England to make the most of the nerves the American players are bound to have and to be very aggressive and attacking from the start."

Contd....
