steven seagal was a bad-ass in his first couple of movies. he was a master of aki-do (sp?) and thats all he was ever supposed to be. costner was in field of dreams, keanu was in the matrix. i cant vote for any of those three. so, ill say tom cruise.

Yea, but Costner sucked in field of dreams. I could have played his part and it would not have changed the movie. His tone is the same in every scene of every movie. He Blows.

At least Reeves was decent in the Matrix. He talked less and fought more. When he opened his mouth, he sucked.

The only thing worse than Seagal (other than Cosner), is a FAT Seagal. He's a lard ass now.

Ok, if this is seriously a question of acting skills while having been paid to do a film, i am sure the correct answer would be that guy in that really bad movie. sorry, dont remember his name.:wink2:

Somebody said Brad Pitt, to which I say, "Go fuck yourself. Watch True Romance or 12 Monkeys."

Somebody said Christopher Walken, to which I say, "Go fuck yourself. Watch The Deer Hunter or True Romance."

Somebody said John Malkovich, to which I say, "Go fuck yourself. Watch In the Line of Fire, or Of Mice and Men."

Sorry, fellas. You've all missed the mark. The correct answer is:

___

you think that he did a good job in both in the line of fire and of mice and men? are you kidding me? your standards must be awfully low. if you think that malkovich was a good actor in those two movies, then cage is a shakespearean actor.

the main reason i did not pick nicolas cage was leaving las vegas.

I loved Con Air.... Day of the Dog, Baby!! Never Leave A Fallen Man Behind!!

:)

Every actor makes a bad movie once in awhile... but the one consistant bad actor is....

Jeff Goldblum... he always has to be in movies with special effects so the can distract you from how bad he is... The Fly, Jurasic Park, ID4.

Yes, Malkovich was GREAT in Of Mice and Men!
Cage was GREAT in Birdy - but he has been equally horrible lately (Gone in 60 Seconds, for example)
Defoe is almost always very good if not great - has anyone seen Shadow of the Vampire where he played Max Schreck, the actor who was the original Nosferatu?

Agree that Pacino's over-acting wore thin long ago. he needs lessons from DeNiro.

the 2 I agree most with are:
Costner - although I would award him more with the most over-rated rather than the worst. The Untouchables and Dancing With Wolves were great movies, and they took him a long way, but everything since has been crap, without exception.
Goldbloom - he is EXACTLY the same in EVERY movie he has ever been in, with the possible exception of Earth Girls are Easy where he played a martian. All his human charachters talk and behave the exact same way - no matter how different they should be. he has NO range whatsoever - he is always playing Jeff Goldbloom.

You want to see some great acting - check out Charles Laughton or Rod Steiger

I can't believe that anyone could suggest someone other than Richard Gere. He is hands down the worst actor out there, and he's been consistently not getting it done for over 25 years now. Keanu Reeves shows promise, but he's got a ways to go to match Gere's ineptitude. Nicholas Cage has always aspired to be Gere, but he comes up a little short.

I agree that Pacino is overrated, but he's not the worst. And Costner gets a bum rap because he doesn't chew the scenery. Yes, he's made some real stinkers, but he's also played the lead in some great films and he didn't hold them back at all. On the other hand, can anyone name a great film Richard Gere has done? The closest thing is First Knight, and he weighs it down so heavily that it melts into mediocrity. No film can survive Richard Gere, no matter who else is in it.
