Northworst has to be the worst, during a detroit snowstorm they loaded multiple planes taxied out, never took off and refused to let them come back to the gate. The planes full of people stayed on the runway for up to 8 hours with no movement. Finally after someone used their cell phone to reach the NWA CEO he got them back to the terminal. They passangers sued the airline and the detroit wayne airport in a class action lawsuit for false imprisionment and settle out of court for millions.

Afterwards they changed their name to NWA to minimize the use of the Northworst nickname.

As a former consultant, they are all horible except for SWA and jet blue. My worst experience was indeed NWA, 2nd worst was Delta.

Northwest is the worst. I don't really travel anymore, but in a position I held about 3 years ago I travelled a lot. I was living in the Detroit area at the time, so Northwest is pretty much all I had. They suck.

Having done the 2-flights-a-day business travel gig for several years, I can, with 110% confidence, say that Northwest and Delta are 1a and 1b when it comes to worst airline.

I never had one problem with US Air in over 100,000 miles with them.

US Airways, without question.
I flew on one of their 1970's era jets in mid July, and what do you know? The AC was not working. How the fuck do you fly a jet in mid July without any AC? A week later when I returned home, I heard an announcement in the airport about a jet not having AC!! Why fix your planes when you can just leave them broken. Not to mention that all of their workers (except the flight attendants) are rude as hell. The only way you can expect to get across anything to them is to be belligerent and rude yourself. All I have to say is that the government better not bail their asses out, because there is a reason that they are on their final death march.

INDEPENDENCE AIR............BY FAR!!!!!.....They advertise $39 rates but last time I flew them I circled around D.C. for 30 minutes before we could land and the pilot said we had a "technical difficulty". On our approach, I saw a bunch of emergency vechiles with their lights flashing, following us down the runway upon our landing. Apparently our landing gear wasn't functioning properly. We ended up landing just fine but I had to go find the nearest restroom to go clean out my underwear as soon as I was on the ground........FLYI.com.......if you wanna save some money and take a crap.

Metro.. flies out of Dallas... goes to a number of the military bases... including Lawton plus Oklahoma City...

Puddle jumpers are piloted by 16 year old kids and their little brothers are the copilots... separation between the 'cockpit' and the passenger area is generally one sheet of plywood with nails showing... not good to be in Row 1 because you can see all the controls and dials ... and the duck tape all over everything... 'Not working' ... 'registers hi'.. or just a big X... "Ladies and gentlemen, we're sorry we won't have a stewardess today.. we were a bit over weight and she volunteered to stay back.. co-pilot, Billy Ray, will be serving beverages"

They do have in-flight movies, but only at night. They fly so low you can see the drive-ins.

Has anyone had any experience with ATA?

Flying with them for the first time on my way to the FIESTA bowl....just wondering if anyone has flown them before.

If it is American Trans Air, I was on one of them to Jamaica about 10 years ago. It was an Apple Vacations charter. Back then they were pretty good. The meal that they served was excellent. However, my guess is that they no longer serve meals.

Worst airline:

And now, ladies and gentlemen, the captain asks that you look outside over the LEFT wing please.
